Who is being weird about clocks changing here?

TimeToTurnItAround · 31/03/2024 20:19

DH does this thing after the clocks change where he says "5pm but really 6pm" or whatever the old time is....for about 2 weeks

He says we are all on old time for about 2 weeks and that it takes everyone that time to readjust and he is just reminding me of the "real" time for the adjustment period.

I think this is super weird. He thinks I'm being mad by saying you feel a bit more tired for one day and that is about it.

Thoughts?

I mentally do it for the first 12 hours or so...

I don't say it out loud. He's weird.

HalebiHabibti · 31/03/2024 20:21

I accuse you of bigamy with my husband. Either that or there are two bastards who do this 😂 it drives me mad!

Mnk711 · 31/03/2024 20:22

I do this too, but for probably a week. I hate the clocks changing. Let's just stick with BST and be done with it.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 31/03/2024 20:22

I do this sorry!
Takes me awhile to adjust.

FussyPud · 31/03/2024 20:24

Not something I do, it’s a bit weird.

iLovee · 31/03/2024 20:24

I do this too! But only for the first couple of days and then get used to it. Sorry 😳

soupfiend · 31/03/2024 20:24

Its not 'weird'.

The hyperbole on this site honestly

If you think this is something unnecessary (which is a better description), then meet my cat. She will still demand her food at GMT.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2024 20:27

Oh god, dh does this!
even worse, today we’ve had lots of references to the puppy - ‘it’s 6pm but the dog thinks it’s only 5pm’ 🤦‍♀️

DSD9472 · 31/03/2024 20:31

Why does he need to say it out loud though???

When travelling through different time zones the general 'rule/thought' is that for every 1hr different zone, it will take 1 day to get used to it. By that thinking- it should only take a day or 2 to get used to it. Not 2 weeks! 🙄
(I just returned from an 11hr difference in time zone, and only took a few days to acclimatise, not 11 days).

toomuchfaff · 31/03/2024 20:32

I do it... all my family have always done it, some for longer than others, but we've just got back off holiday where it was an hour forward, so we landed at 22.45 which was really 23.45... we gained the hour, only to have ot ripped from us a mere 3 hours later and we woke up still on Italy time! result

HelenaJustina · 31/03/2024 20:32

DH does this for the first 3-4 days, drives me bonkers! Just get over it already. He used to travel all over the world and I asked if this was how he handled jet-lag, he gave a very surprised ‘no, of course not’ in reply.

TowerRavenSeven · 31/03/2024 20:34

I do this!

WarshipRocinante · 31/03/2024 20:36

I do it for just the morning of the change. Just a little, “oh… it’s really still 6am and I want to sleep.” But then I get up because new time is 7am and never say it again. It does not take two weeks.

Does he not have much going on in his life? I find people who obsess over stuff like this just don’t really have much of a life.

MrBigsCat · 31/03/2024 20:37

I do this too

Oreosareawful · 31/03/2024 20:38

I do this too, it takes a while to get used to it.

Olika · 31/03/2024 20:39

My mum has done it today and it gets on my nerves.

MrsEllenGriswold · 31/03/2024 20:40

I hate the clocks changing, takes me about a week to adjust.

sleepD3pr1ived · 31/03/2024 20:41

I do it ☺️ and I'm not weird!

Bonbontutu · 31/03/2024 20:41

Yeah I did this today when DP tried to make coffees at 5am when the baby woke up. It was deffo still 4am in my world.

OhmygodDont · 31/03/2024 20:41

That would drive me bonkers. I only realised then dd mentioned something she saw online about the clocks changing 😂 all our things automatically change so had no idea till 10am (9am 😂😂)

MrsDandelion · 31/03/2024 20:42

Ive literally just done it when it was 9pm (my bedtime) .. in old time. Still another 20 mins in new time to get there.

treehousethunderstorm · 31/03/2024 20:42

Dh is an intelligent person, has been alive the same number of years as me, and knows that asking the questions winds me up but still a few days before.

DH 'So are the clocks going forward an hour or back an hour?'

I answer and then the dreaded question, 'So if the clock says it's 11am what time is it really?'

Me - '11am'

I might think it but I don't understand announcing the adjusted time, we're going to be on that time for the next six months so get used to it, the same as we do every six months.

When we travel across time zones there is no announcing of 'at home it's 'X' time.

I don't know why it annoys me so much, it just does.

RayWinstone · 31/03/2024 20:43

I do this as well. I think it's odd to expect us all to just accept instantly that 7pm is the new 6pm... I need time to adjust and reassure myself that it's not weird that i feel a bit unsettled about the fact that 7pm doesn't feel quite right. I'll get used to it in a few days.

justasking111 · 31/03/2024 20:44

My car and kindle are showing the correct time again. I love British summer time

43ontherocksporfavor · 31/03/2024 20:46

2 weeks??? I do it for the first day! Was a nightmare with young babies but they’re now adults thankfully!
