Who is being weird about clocks changing here?

DH does this thing after the clocks change where he says "5pm but really 6pm" or whatever the old time is....for about 2 weeks

He says we are all on old time for about 2 weeks and that it takes everyone that time to readjust and he is just reminding me of the "real" time for the adjustment period.

I think this is super weird. He thinks I'm being mad by saying you feel a bit more tired for one day and that is about it.

Thoughts?

Yeah I do that too. Not for 2 weeks, but a few days. I’ve kept my watch on old time for a bit whilst I adjust!

SabreIsMyFave · 31/03/2024 23:28

I have to admit that although I do notice the effect of the hour going forward - for a few days, that's it. I don't suffer from it for weeeeeeks... Or until September like another poster said!

I think this is super weird! I just change the clocks on Saturday night and then never think about it again! Time is arbitrary, it makes no difference really.

Hibye23289 · 31/03/2024 23:30

I do it for a while too! Just because we know the time has changed my bodyclock doesn't so I end up being tired or wide awake like now depending on if they have gone forward or backwards. Also the kids would not fall asleep til later because their bodyclock is in the old time for a while

Jellykat · 31/03/2024 23:32

I do this for a couple of days.. mainly because my body clock needs to readjust

DrFoxtrot · 31/03/2024 23:35

I had no idea that some people are that badly affected by the clock changes. It must feel strange to have to adjust to feeling in a normal rhythm again.
I wonder whether I/ my family are not like this as we don't really have set times for things. Usually no breakfast, get up when you want at weekends if there's nowhere to be, lunch is whenever and evening meal can be any time from 6-9pm Blush. Bedtime can be a bit random too.

JassyRadlett · 31/03/2024 23:38

He must find actual jet lag a nightmare... if a season clock change lasts two weeks how long does he take to adjust to a proper time zone shift??

Bagpuss2022 · 31/03/2024 23:44

It doesn’t affect me but DH is the same it annoys me but DD did have a point today when it was her bedtime at 9.30 she said it’s actually only 8.30 to my body she went to bed about a hour ago it’s the holidays so it doesn’t matter really does it

Malarandras · 31/03/2024 23:53

I do it the night before so I do t go to bed too late. Maybe a bit the following morning so I remember why I feel more tired. But then I stop so I reckon your husband is a bit odd yes..!

Wingedharpy · 01/04/2024 00:15

I do it too, but then I have been known to sometimes convert the price of things into "old money" so there really is no hope for me.😉

6 shillings now for an orange - bloody ridiculous!

Cyanobacterium · 01/04/2024 00:33

Probably do this for about a day or two when noting that we aren't hungry or doing whatever we should be doing at the 'right' time (it's particularly bad for the body clock over a Bank Hol weekend this time for us, it seems).

When the clocks go back and you really notice the dark afternoons, I'd say I probably do comment for at least a week.

Maybe your husband finds it more disruptive than you and so comments, or is just being humorous?

Does it matter?

Banrion · 01/04/2024 00:37

Oh I'm the same as your dh. My dh used to get so baffled by me talking about old time and new time. Makes sense to me

You and I are far too sensible for MN!!

RedPony1 · 02/04/2024 16:57

That would drive me bonkers. Clock changes never affect me 😂
