Who is being weird about clocks changing here?

DH does this thing after the clocks change where he says "5pm but really 6pm" or whatever the old time is....for about 2 weeks

He says we are all on old time for about 2 weeks and that it takes everyone that time to readjust and he is just reminding me of the "real" time for the adjustment period.

I think this is super weird. He thinks I'm being mad by saying you feel a bit more tired for one day and that is about it.

Thoughts?

I detest the spring forward clock change passionately but I get over it after two days. I might in my head think “it’s really 0700” when it’s 0800 once or thrice but crucially, I do not say it out loud. Your husband is being a sap 😂

SnaccidentsHappen · 31/03/2024 21:23

Are you married to my husband, it infuriates me. Just say the actual time!!

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 31/03/2024 21:23

I was quite pleased when I woke up at 8.15 thinking I'd managed an extra hour of sleep. Except I hadn't really. Oh well.

WarshipRocinante · 31/03/2024 21:11

Why are you desperate for bed at 8pm? That was only 7pm yesterday. Do you go to bed at 7pm?

That’s the other end of the year. Which is why I’m still up at gone 9pm!

I’ll struggle in the morning. We had dinner late (because no one was hungry) so I took my meds late so now I’ll wake up late- and the clock will claim it’s even later. So Tuesday will be a struggle to be on time for work. I’ll still be dopey.

Floralnomad · 31/03/2024 21:27

I’ve done it once today and that was when I was explaining to the dog about dinner times .

Doyouthinktheyknow · 31/03/2024 21:33

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2024 20:27

Oh god, dh does this!
even worse, today we’ve had lots of references to the puppy - ‘it’s 6pm but the dog thinks it’s only 5pm’ 🤦‍♀️

I’ve been doing that all day but with the cat😳🤣

The little fucker woke us earlier than usual for breakfast which compounded the effect of the hour change. She is now sleeping peacefully by my feet!

I am guilty of this OP but normally only for a day, I forget once I am back at work.

I put my analogue clocks forward last night at about 6pm and have not thought about it since!

This. I don't notice any change except drawing the curtains an hour later than yesterday, and it bewilders me that it causes such a palaver in some people's lives.

To answer your question, OP: your DH is. Two weeks? Two weeks?

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 31/03/2024 21:45

I'm also guilty of this.

inappropriateraspberry · 31/03/2024 21:49

I do it for a day or two as I adjust. Then it's forgotten.

Curlygirl06 · 31/03/2024 21:54

You'd hate me, I don't change my watch at all, so half the year it's right. Before I married my dh, the clock on the lounge was on BST and the kitchen one was on summer time. It used to confuse people who didn't know I didn't change those clocks.
I grew up in a country that didn't change the clocks, clinging to my roots here!

NameChangedAgainn · 31/03/2024 21:58

We do this, we have pets though and they don't know the clocks have changed.
Growing up we had to adjust pet schedules by 5-10 minutes a day over a week or two, for particularly sensitive pets, and the habit has just stuck.
We also do it to keep reminding ourselves that it's fine that we're not hungry at our usual dinner time, as our body clocks think it's an hour earlier than it is.

I’ve done this too. So I was always doing mental maths. Keeps your brain agile 😂

haveyoutriedturningitoffandonagain · 31/03/2024 22:02

I don't say it outloud but I think it as I have routines and get very out of sorts

BirthdayRainbow · 31/03/2024 22:02

I think it for the first day to factor in the animals. Then tomorrow it will be like it hasn't happened. Your h is silly. Maybe he thinks it's cute.

ZoChan · 31/03/2024 22:03

DH thought that it was unusual our boys slept late this morning as the clocks go forward tonight 😂

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 31/03/2024 22:05

It doesn't bother me, but I accept that it has a bigger impact on some people. Fortunatejy I wasn't working a night shift this year, and had no early commitments, so I just got uo and carried on. I light go to bed a bit later than usual.

TroysMammy · 31/03/2024 22:06

I cba to change one clock last October so one less today. Also I don't know how to change the time on my cctv so I usually make a written note of correct time and cctv time as I get in a tizz trying to work it out in my head. I don't say it out loud though.

Springchickenonion · 31/03/2024 22:07

I do. In my mind. For about 1 day. Then I forget.

Theothername · 31/03/2024 22:08

We all do this in my house. And there’s always a clock somewhere that misses the time change, or is finally back on the right time after 6 months.

Time change on holiday isn’t too bad if it’s within a couple of hours because the light makes sense.

JudgeJ · 31/03/2024 22:12

MrsEllenGriswold · 31/03/2024 20:40

I hate the clocks changing, takes me about a week to adjust.

I make any alterations before going to bed on the Saturday and then it's no problem just a normal Sunday.

Ratfan24 · 31/03/2024 22:13

What's the point of being married if you can't annoy each other with this sort of thing. We go on about how much lighter it is etc.

Wexone · 31/03/2024 22:17

Mnk711 · 31/03/2024 20:22

I do this too, but for probably a week. I hate the clocks changing. Let's just stick with BST and be done with it.

sorry I don't want winter mornings to only get bright around 10am with still getting dark early eve. winter time is actually correct time and if clocks are to stop changing then it should be winter time you still get your brighter eves
but then people be whinging it's bright at 3am. if it ain't broke don't fix it

Chocalert · 31/03/2024 22:20

20 mins ago we came to bed and I said so really we’re going to bed at 9pm tonight an hour earlier! He said no we’re going to bed because we’re tired 😂

just me I thought until he then said I’ll get up an hour earlier to feed the cat because she’ll know what time it really is 🙃

CherryBerry99 · 31/03/2024 22:21

I do this for the first couple of days, usually in my head but sometimes out loud. It's an adjustment 🤣

chocolatefordays · 31/03/2024 22:24

Eeeeek I do it too! But only for the following day!
