Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

My boyfriend from sixth form was arrested on an episode of Night Cops……

Mine was on Crimewatch.

Zone2NorthLondon · 29/03/2024 23:46

your famous dh husband charges his kid disco a fee. How gauche
at my nursery a parent is a prestigious make up artist they did the face painting for free when they had a party

Rachel1509 · 29/03/2024 23:46

Sounds like another humble brag post to me

Mrbumpssmile · 29/03/2024 23:47

No, but my first ex looked like a very young Mick Jagger, so tourists used to stop and take photos of him, which he found embarrassing but I found hilarious.

Then my next ex has schizophrenia and often thinks he's famous and thinks people are stopping to take photos and talk to him, which he finds bemusing and I find hilarious.

My current DP isn't famous, but does get asked to do occasional podcasts and interviews and I admire his skill in those.

Amybelle88 · 29/03/2024 23:47

There's a difference between famous and infamous, OP.

Well if we are talking magazines, I hate to cap you, but I had a joke published in "Whizzer and Chips" once.

I think I win the thread, thank you 👸👑

Oh you definitely do! ( I was paid £1 for a letter published in Bunty though )

My friend won an Oscar but sadly isn’t sponsored or available for spinning the decks at the Y6 disco.

Does that still count?

Where does she keep it?

Pinkypup · 29/03/2024 23:51

I was in Numberjacks and the episode still airs every now and again! Luckily my fans know how to control themselves around me and don’t bring too much attention when they see me out and about.

My DH has been on Crimewatch 3 times. Does that count?

Police officer, actor in reconstructions or criminal?!

listsandbudgets · 29/03/2024 23:55

My DP is infamous on at least 3 continents.. much more fun than boring old famous..

Findmebythesea1 · 29/03/2024 23:59

Read all OP’s threads & wow, just… wow. 😂

This is actually incredible

Although simultaneously credible.

I don't want to be too outing, so let's just say... my name is Mrs Pickering and my DH shares the same name as both men in a top comedy double act from a few decades back.

He was already a celebrity in our town, but since then he's become a top YouTube star and everyday life is just horrendous, with all the fans. For some bizarre reason that I've never been able to fathom, they always seem to do owl impressions and shout "Whoooo" whenever they see him. Maybe they're taunting him because, owing to his immense fame, he can now only come out at night?

I loved Mallet's mallet. I must show it to DS. He'd crease.

I met him on a plane coming from Hamburg once!

Does your name begin with Se and end with nteen? If so, you are an absolute legend!

DCI on Major Crime Unit. Each time it was for a murder. His first time he was interviewed by poor Jill Dando The second time he was interviewed by Fiona Bruce whilst the biggest bluebottle fly crawled all over his forehead. How he managed to keep going I will never know.

CharlieBoff · 30/03/2024 00:02

Don’t mean to piss on your chips OP, but my DH is actually famous, as he was on Fun House with Pat Sharp, so I’m afraid I win 🤷‍♀️ The fame has made our lives borderline unbearable, but I forbear…

No it doesn’t 😂
but I am a legend 🤣 I was one of the people who had something ‘go wrong’ that the numberjacks had to fix

Ah, thanks - so at least he was on the right side, then!

Capmagturk · 30/03/2024 00:04

My sons picture was in the local paper three times in a year when he was 5 from various things at school and its been really difficult for us all to handle the fame its brought us all as a family, 11 years down the line and we still can't nip in to town quickly without him being stopped repeatedly. Its a hard life fame. Maybe need to look in to getting him sponsored.

Aaaah, the man with the best ever spoonerism for a name in showbiz Grin

PrincessOlga · 30/03/2024 00:08

I think it is the worst thing of all to be "semi-famous", because they are the ones you see featured in local newspaper reports: "Former DJ now looking a shadow of himself" or "Former DJ forced to sign on at job centre" or "Former DJ seen looking the worse for wear after pre-Christmas drinks at WI Institute".... The next generation do not know who it is and the only value is to "knock them down" or laugh at them (the way the Daily Mail says someone who is looking particularly awful or fat that day is "looking effortlessly elegant" just to get the comments going).

If you have the chance to trade up, this is the only example when I really would encourage you (or someone else) to "marry for material purposes", because the very top famous people tend to be really nice, lesser "famous" people - not quite so much...

Where does she keep it?

I think it’s just tucked away on a bookshelf.
