Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I have to confess I havent been semi anything of note but I will list them

  1. conscious
  2. Detatched
  3. nude And the only time I have been sponsored was for a silence at school and an unfortunate turn of events in the 80s when I joined AA not the motoring organization ! See I got a bit confused as I only wanted break down cover but thankfully Marjorie turned out to be such a good friend I liked to see her once a week.

I once had a boyfriend who is the son and brother of former government ministers.

My sister is married to an actor whose roles include one of the main characters (not the main character) in a popular television drama series.

My husband and I are happy being not at all famous. 😁

IndignantIguana · 30/03/2024 11:29

I have never been with anyone famous and actually would never choose to be. When I was little and my mum was a primary school teacher we'd go to Tesco and there was always a bunch of little kids who'd squeal 'Mrrrrssss Smmmmiiiitttthhhh' every time. Used to irritate and embarrass me in equal measure. Taught me early on that fame would be awful 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I do detect some envy though 🤔

You're deluded.

Yes my DH is a movie star. It's quite the life. SO busy and hectic for months at a time, but his money gives us a wonderful life.

😂 😂 Must be so annoying people always asking for a photo.

CatkinToadflax · 30/03/2024 11:30

Reading out some of the best comments on this thread to DH. He’s just reminded me that I got a drawing of an owl published in the 1987 Brownie annual. And then commented “such a shame that you were so casually famous that you’d apparently forgotten!” 😄

anybody can claim anything on here and who is to know any different?

Yours, Camilla

😂😂😂😂😂

PeanutsLunadexter · 30/03/2024 11:38

I was once on Top of The Pops 1985 but in the audience!

IsAnybodyListening · 30/03/2024 11:38

No. You wouldn't recognise or know his name, but he does have a IMDb account and about 100 credits. Many moons ago he and his team won an Oscar, you'd never know unless he told you what he did. And when I mention to colleagues his job they wrongly assume we are absolutely loaded, but alas that's not the case🤣

JoanThursday1972 · 30/03/2024 11:40

I have a rather famous cousin who is a very good (I think so anyway) actress and probably a household name. It doesn't bother me because when I last went out with her (two weekends ago) nobody even came up to us and said anything. We went to a vintage fair and then out for lunch to a local restaurant. Nobody gave us a second glance. And we split the bill between us! 😍

My DH is really well known locally, and in Europe. I'd hate it if he was really well know nationwide tbh.

he's known locally, and in Europe but not 'nationwide' - that is confusing!

MotherOfOlafs · 30/03/2024 11:44

So who is actually OPs DH then? From the clues I’ve got no idea!

TediousTim · 30/03/2024 11:45

I was friends with a famous comedian- he's dead now - but going out with him could go either way. He was famously quite miserable so if he was in the mood to put his head down he'd not be bothered or really even noticed. Our local pubs didn't pay him any extra attention. If, however, he was feeling extrovert he would court the attention and people (young women) would flock to him, which was annoying - but on his part, not their's. He would get blokes trying to out-wit him at the bar or tell him he wasn't funny which could go one of two ways.

It's complicated with someone who has a public and private persona which they struggle to manage.

RIP to him, complex, kind, loveable, pain in the arse.

NannytotheFamous · 30/03/2024 11:46

Not a DH but I used to work for a very very famous family. So saw close up the effects it had. When I was out with them or out alone with their children we were photographed and stared at. Ended up in a rag photographed in my swimming costume on the beach with the children. Hazard of the job.

We had security some of the time but they would draw extra attention. I preferred it when we did not have security with us.

It is a lot of pressure for the children knowing they are constantly observed - and pressure on the parents / babies hoping they will behave 😂

I do detect some envy though 🤔

not really when my DP does gigs for charities he covers his own costs... he does often get a drink or two out if it though!

You’re mistaking indifference to envy.

I really do not give a shit

Yes, very puzzling. Europe not nationwide means he’s famous in Europe but not U.K..

Maybe OP isn’t “Famous” for her Geography GCSE exam result.

MotherOfOlafs · 30/03/2024 11:44

So who is actually OPs DH then? From the clues I’ve got no idea!

I'm not going to name him.

He's a very well known and international DJ, and has been since the 90's. He started on pirate radio stations and illegal raves and now gets to headline festivals worldwide. He is already booked through to the end of next year.

The only idea I have from the clues is this? Needed the £200 to fund his catnip addiction.
