Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I was propositioned many years ago by the then Chief Cashier of the Bank of England (the person whose signature appears on bank notes).

My FIL used to be a local councillor so was often stopped by people to complain about bins/parking/grass verges. 😂

😂👍Good one! I actually laughed out loud.

My friend's Whippet had an Infamous Grandfather.

Other dogs stop her on walks and say ''Your Grandad!- may I have an Autograph?!'

Enjoy it while it lasts. I have a friend who is married to a bloke who was a regular in a show which was on telly through the 90s and early 00s. He’s a total has-been now, hasn’t worked in over 10 years other than a couple of episodes of Casualty, barely anyone recognizes him anymore and she’s been having to support him ever since.

A long time ago i almost got wed to a guy 8 years my senior who was in a popular police drama. He dropped out after several years he didnt like being asked to work evening schedules too often. He regretted leaving.
Apart from his modest house and car he only does semi regular work he is lazy and went back to uni as a much maturer student rather than graft.
Last time i saw him jeez he has put some timber on. He was handsome back in the day.
I probably have more money than him now.

My DH once got sponsored for a sponsored swim when he was about 8- is that the sort of thing you mean?

I don’t really understand this thread. Surely you’re aware that most posters won’t have a famous or semi-famous or sponsored DH so I don’t know that you’ll find many posters able to share similar stories. Seems like maybe just an attempt to show-off?

🤣 I went on a Sponsored walk once around Richmond park - But where we lived there were lots of genuinely 'famous' people - if one saw them in Waitrose, or in Town or on a walk, you'd just think ''Oh there's so and so'' {Musicians, actors mainly } and wouldn't dream of bothering them- they are just people.

I wonder if the OP resents her famous in Europe and locally husband stealing her limelight? It must be a great relief to her when they go somewhere which is neither local nor European and she can spread her shining wings in the spotlight and be valued as her own amazing person.

PeopleAreWeird · 30/03/2024 02:22

Ex was a relative of the Welsh Rugby Manager

In Wales, couldnt go far without someone talking , taking a photo, asking for a autograph.
Spent afew hours with him and it become very boring very quickly

Jenasaurus · 30/03/2024 02:22

Does Trevor MacDonald count?

Toothbrushh · 30/03/2024 02:24

My husband is often asked if he’s related to me.

oakleaffy · 30/03/2024 02:30

I was in a post office queue years ago and saw a bloke that I thought was a friend from somewhere - his voice and appearance was so familiar, but I couldn't quite place him.

He was one of the main characters from 'Withal {Edit Withnail and I'} bloody spellcheck... , a film I loved - but no one was bothering him.
He looked and sounded very like his actual character.

It must be worse nowadays with the advent of smart phones, people taking pics - it would be very tedious.

I'd say he does! Mum used to see him about while shopping sometimes. {edit ..do you mean Trevor McDonald?}

This is a fun thread but the OP really revealed their colours when they posted “Cry some more 😂” to one piece of considered criticism.

I really do think the OP is bored as hell and needed the validation and entertainment of a few hundred people joining their thread.

I once had a piece of artwork featured in the Gallery on Hartbeat. My husband bears this well and is very understanding of my notoriety as an artist,

I remember being in year 9 and was staying at a friends house watching crime watch and her brother appeared on there and he was sat on the sofa next to us.

everyone in the house just went silent.

he did his time in the end.

😂

BobbyBiscuits · 30/03/2024 05:14

Sorry OP, but I couldn't help thinking of the character Miche from People Just do Nothing...haha.

I am so famous that one day when I was on the Buckingham Palace balcony with King Charles, a woman in the crowd nudged my friend and said "who's that guy on the balcony? The one next to PigletJohn?"

PigletJohn you are indeed MN famous!
I reckon you get summoned more than any other poster 💪🤘😁

I used to send pictures in all the time.
Sob. Nothing...😢
Somewhere inside me there's a sad 8 year old who's still asking Tony and Morph "why? why not me and my painfully shit excellent felt tip frog drawings?" 😭
I have much respect for your Gallery fame TheFireflies 🙌

I once worked with a lady whose father had shown Princess Margaret to her seat when she had attended their village church. We never heard the end of this - it was quite remarkable how often this was brought up in conversation. We only had to use the word 'church' and it would be "Did I ever tell you about when Princess Margaret was at a weekend houseparty at the local estate. Well, on the Sunday, my Pa welcomed her at the door of the church and actually walked her down the aisle and showed her to her pew!"

I was on the BBC once but didn’t know till afterwards. It was in Bridgend me and my whole family walking down the road so you could see all of the back of us apparently. BBC Wales so even more special as I have Welsh heritage.
sadly no one videoed it and no one asked for my autograph but if anyone wants it now (43 years later) please just say.

I sympathise . . . .I was once on the BBC 6 o'clock news as there was a major news story in my area and I could be seen briefly at the back of the hospital carpark the BBC were filming in.

Can we exchange autographs?

Yes I'm the same OP. What bothers me most though is when we go out and people DONT SEEM TO CARE.
I always take care to book restaurants in his name and announce our arrival loudly. When he answers his phone he says "HELLO ME BUBBLES FOR BREAKFAST HERE". So people will know they are to notice us.

Is he the guy who ran the Christmas disco at local care home? Didn't get a lot of thanks, but in fairness they are a tough crowd. Great pic in the local paper though.

Not sure on that one .. this is the poster who wants to call another school mum a cunt as she's dared to suggest the kids might like a cinema night instead of paying daddy DJ 200 quid ( equipment he already owns / his own kids class )

Now he's famous .. apparently but couldn't get another booking as he's pencilled in this event .. which makes the other WhatsApp group mum " a cunt "

Lovely

Lwrenn · 30/03/2024 06:33

I've shagged someone semi famous and when dp and I watch shows he's appeared i sit there all red and I think dp thinks I fancy him, but I don't, I ended it. It's just a case of I've seen him naked 😂
Oh I've never told dp that I know him, I like I've a wee secret from when I was naughty 😂

No, but Salman Rushdie once hit on me when I was 19.

Pretty upsetting to learn that one of my favourite writers is kind of a creep. I later learned that his creepiness is well known. Oh well.
