To call out 1 of the other school mums

We're all in a school Mums WhatsApp group and we're trying to organise a leaving party for our year 6's. 8 of us want to do a disco type affair for everyone but this 1 mum is trying to organise a cinema trip and meal out for her DD and trying to entice other kids in. I'm absolutely raging. AIBU if I completely lose the plot and call her a cunt.

What's the first song...

Murder on the dance floor?

He normally gets over 4 figures per gig, he's doing this for 200 just cover time/expenses etc Anyway it's not about him it's about this other Mum trying to steal the limelight!

What time do these 4 figure DJ sets usually start at? I'd wager it's not normally 7pm. Did he really have to turn down multiple other sets? £200 is pretty much standard price for your bog standard school kids disco so he's not doing anyone any favours by charging that. In fact, why not get him to take one of his 4 figure DJ sets and donate half of that towards the kids cinema trip and meal. He gets more than his £200 for set and the kids get a subsidised fun night out.

edwinbear · 29/03/2024 17:38

By the end of Y6, DD would have turned inside out with embarrassment if her dad was the DJ at her leavers party. Especially if her friends had got wind of the fact he’d scammed them out of £200 for it.

I'm just surprised the thread is still here!

enchantedsquirrelwood · 29/03/2024 21:10

Anyone who uses that word needs to grow up (and grow their vocabulary). it's about the nastiest word you can use. Use it for a rapist, not someone who wants to organise a cinema party.

Also - why can't they do both?

A few things jump out at me.

  • why are only 8 pupils parents getting a say
  • it's NOT about you or your limelight.
  • NOT every child likes discos
  • your partner should be doing it for free, not sure what "at cost" means for a DJ.

Get a grip! And maybe get the kids (all 9 of them, not just 8) to decide what they want and do 2 events.

SoDoneIn · 30/03/2024 01:25

Does he charge you for his time too when he looks after the kids and you have a night out?

He’s a dad doing a dad thing and should not be charging for it. No wonder the other mum is suggesting an alternative - she can see right through you all as grifters relying on the fact he played a decent club once back in 2005 to claim fame and demand a fortune.

ColleenDonaghy · 30/03/2024 07:50

Omg charging for your own kid's school event. I'm cringing myself inside out here.

Upinthenightagain · 30/03/2024 07:59

You def don’t charge for your kid’s leavers disco. I think I’d rather hire a normal ‘not famous’ kids party disco for £200 than your dh pretending he’s doing everyone a huge favour. Jesus Christ

Discontentedpony · 30/03/2024 08:08

Ooooo what's the famous husbands thread?! Can someone come link please ? 😊

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 30/03/2024 08:14

What exactly would you be 'calling out'?
Why aren't the kids getting to decide (with the proviso that the majority vote is what happens, and not that you will definitely get the option you select)?

Who would she be stealing the limelight from?

It wouldn't be your DH by any chance, would it?

PenguinLord · 30/03/2024 09:17

This is hilarious!

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 30/03/2024 10:12

This is up there with one of the most uncomfortable threads I’ve ever read.

Your DH cannot charge for his child’s school party on principle, as for calling another mother a cunt, have you lost the plot. 😂

Another ‘this must be a wind up’ thread.

Tagyoureit · 30/03/2024 10:15

What bloody limelight? Are you so ignorant that you can't believe somebody else likes something different you??

You sound like the reason why women hate the school gates! Fucking grow up!

zingally · 30/03/2024 10:33

Calling someone a cunt over something this silly is pointless and just makes you look ridiculous.

If she wants to host and fund a cinema/meal trip, then she can go nuts. But the consensus is disco. Continue with that plan.

VivX · 30/03/2024 14:51

If another school parent wanted to charge £200 to "cover their costs" at a school disco, I'd tell them to get a grip.
If you're husband genuinely gets four figures to DJ, he can afford to "cover the cost" himself.
Who tf charges to do their own child's Y6 disco 😂

bigageap · 30/03/2024 15:58

Is your husband the semi famous dish locally & in Europe and normally headlines festivals 🤣🤣

FarmGirl78 · 30/03/2024 16:30

Jeez, they're 10 or 11. They don't need another Prom type event. Stop being a nightmare mum!!

NaiceUser · 30/03/2024 20:20

Hang on, does the school name begin with a P in a town beginning with a H?

VivienneDelacroix · 30/03/2024 22:47

MeadowL · 29/03/2024 12:53

My DH has already said he'll be the dj and has turned down other gigs to do this one, and he's doing it at cost price so he's going to be out of pocket too! Fuming 😠

Why has he turned down work when only 8 out of the class want the disco?
