Ice cream and crisps are massively overrated

Is it just me or do crisps and ice cream get way too much food kudos?
I mean, they're OK, but there are loads of things I much prefer. DH and both DDs think I'm crazy and it's become a major talking point at home (in amongst all the deep discussions on politics and climate change of course).
Thoughts?

I had to stop buying the cheese Doritos and matching hot salsa because they're just so moreish.

A friend had an Ann Summers party and her adult DD brought those round including sour cheese and chives and nacho cheese dips, I can live without those. But I was hooked on the Doritos and salsa from then on.

Crisps are the best. YABU. Ice cream is good, but there is a lot of bad stuff about and a lot of pretension around the good stuff. I like it occasionally but it's not as glorious as crisps.

I love them but can't really work out the taste. They are called chilli heatwave but aren't actually that hot. The taste is kind of meaty and cheesy (a bit like walkers paprika) but clearly isn't supposed to be meat.

Maybe I am just strange thinking that paprika has a meaty taste but to me it does.

Errrrr nope! YAB massively U. I LoOOOove crisps. And ice cream, like proper artisan ice creams, is just just delicious.

I used to love BBQ flavour Hula Hoops as a child. 1970s onwards. They've changed since then, not as good as they were. But I still buy them.

DNephew (5) came round clutching a bag of Monster Munch the other day, he likes crisps too (and pretty much anything else) but like the good child he is (ha!) he didn't even want some when we went to the Co Op the other day, was happy with a comic and water.

I love ice cream. However, I hate any sort of crisp whatsoever. They are just calories with no nutritional value or taste at all.

Crisps give me migraines now. Decent ice cream is delicious

Ice cream from the freezer at the supermarket I can take or leave but nothing beats a gorgeous hand made one on a hot summer’s day (or even better gelato in Italy).

I love crisps though. Posh salt and vinegar ones I could eat the entire bag.

I say this after just finishing a pack of McCoy’s beef steak crisps. They are god tier.

Crisps are my nemesis, in all their greasy loveliness. I've had to go cold turkey on them.

I once read that ice cream is just a mix of sugar and fat. Probably not entirely factually correct (if at all) but it stuck with me and really did put me off it massively.

Crisps are largely just starch and fat.

Ice cream you missed out water and air.

I think you could argue crisps have questionable nutritional value.

However claiming they don't have any sort of taste is stretching things a bit far.

Unless you are thinking of those Golden Wonder cheese and onion ones you could get in the 70s.

Not bothered about either, especially ice cream. Chocolate, on the other hand....

Agree, but I also feel that way about chocolate which I know is a sin on here.

I do sometimes have a craving for a bit of ice cream but only get it if it’s on sale because I only want Häagen-Dazs or Halo.
