Sick of wasting my life because of the rain

GoodnightAdeline · 24/03/2024 19:18

I don’t care how many people say ‘it was always like this..’ yes it rained a lot when I was a kid but now it does nothing BUT rain.

I swear to God out of the last 30 days we have had 1 or maybe 2 where it wasn’t fucking raining. And they’re always midweek.

I feel like all we do is sit inside going stir crazy waiting for the rain to stop. I have 2 small children and while they’re desperate to go to the park/beach, even they’re not keen in a torrential downpour with everything covered in mud.

I’m sick of all my plans being cancelled, staring out of the window at depressing grey skies and trying to figure out how to pass the weekend without spending a ton of cash on expensive (and brief) indoor activities.

It’s driving me fucking crazy and not an exaggeration to say it’s sending me into some kind of low level depression. 🍷

my eldest teenager is 17 and they were all out last night, everybody walks around in this city though come rain or shine, I think it statistically has the highest number of healthy people as a result, apart from me!

Littlechefblello · 24/03/2024 23:45

This thread is fucking barmy but I'm enjoying it while I'm lying here in bed sick (probably from getting caught in the rain too many times)

OP I stand with you. Bollocks to this endless rain.

I need to majorly sort out the boot of my car, but I haven't been able to do it for 3 weeks, as every day that I'm off work, it has rained. 😨

Yes, me too. My car is full of crap and could do with a good hoover, but not in the rain.
I also have an absolute deluge (haha) of outdoor renovation jobs that need good weather. The summer was so miserable last year that we couldn't get all of them done.

I don't know why you're both getting on at @EatCrow

The evidence is there that she was addressing you @MaloneMeadow so I don't see why you've reported her. She was obviously snapping back at your facetious response.

I wasn't getting at anyone. I was responding to the personal attack which you have clearly just screenshot, where my name appears above.

@EatCrow has apologised and I am unsure as to why you are also getting involved. Is it have a go at people living with cancer week?

Seriously guys, fill your boots, be depressed, wish your lives away, moan your heads off. I will stay in my lane and far away from AIBU!

This thread is proper bonkers. Everyone I know is fed up of the constant rain. My friend who has a dog says she has never had so many dog walks in the rain as this year.
And every time I start doing some gardening because it is dry, I get half an hour before it starts raining.

Oh your friend said well if you put it like that…

Mmhmmn · 24/03/2024 23:55

Invest in some waterproof coats, wellies etc and get out there. It’s just rain.

MajorConsequences · 24/03/2024 23:57

Seems you are not alone OP 😆🌧

Sick of wasting my life because of the rain
BlueBadgeHolder · 24/03/2024 23:57

@Mmhmmn I have them. It is still miserable to have rain every bloody day. Where are the crisp cold dry days?

Smashieandnicey · 24/03/2024 23:58

Wtf.

Mmhmmn · 24/03/2024 23:59

Maybe weather watch and head to where it’s dry. It rarely rains everywhere 😆

LuckySantangelo35 · 24/03/2024 22:41

@ReadingSoManyThreads

what about your hair?

What about it?

Wet hair dries - do you never wash your hair?

If it's raining before I go out, I just put a hat on. Sometimes take a brolly but not fussed on them. Sometimes wrap a scarf over my head, or shock horror, sometimes my hair gets wet and then it dries eventually...

notacooldad · 25/03/2024 00:01

While I agree its rained a lot over the last few months we've still had some grand walks on the moors, I've cycled a lot and had some really nice warm days and even sat un a beer garden a few times, admittedly wrapped up.
Unless the weather is dangerous, you can't put your life on hold and stay in all the time

BlueBadgeHolder · 24/03/2024 23:58

Very much so, I agree. Who knew folk cannot hold a brolly and push a pram

BlueBadgeHolder · 25/03/2024 00:02

In February there had been 78% more rain than expected in England, 53% more in Wales but slightly less (6%) than average in Scotland and nearly a fifth less (18% lower than average) in Northern Ireland.

BlueBadgeHolder · 25/03/2024 00:03

@notacooldad who is hiding inside? I have been out walks most days. I am still fed up with the rain and the mud.

Yes, exactly. Apparently February was the wettest February on record.

I strongly agree about dressing for the weather and getting out etc but there is a limit. The last 12 months has been the worst weather I can ever remember. I remember we had a week or two of nice weather last spring, then a really rubbish grey chilly summer, about a week of hot weather in September and since then it’s mainly been greyness and rain. A couple of sunny days in the last week or so.

Haven't owned a brolly for years, they are utterly pointless, blown inside out in minutes. Certainly couldn't manage one with a pram - not that I've owned a pram for years either! I'm sensing a real North/South divide here or I'm living in a parallel universe to some posters.
