To not worry about my manky foot (horrible pic included)

I was at a wedding at the weekend and someone accidentally stood on my foot wearing a high heel (you can see the scabby bit where that happened). Now 5 days later my foot looks like this, it seems to be getting worse every day. It’s not massively painful, but the whole area is itchy as hell. Do I need to worry or is it just a bruise? I just tried to send a photo to my doctor but they are offline and not taking any new requests.

Slightly better photo, deffo not fake tan!

I hope I’m seen soon too as the X ray is only open until 5 so they need to get a shifty on. Think I should be next to be called in.

Mine looked like that after I dropped a slate mat on it. Oof it hurt. Something was fractured — I’ve forgotten what — but they couldn’t do anything about it, I just had to wait for it to heal. Glad you’re getting it seen!

BusyCaz · 20/03/2024 16:31

My bruising was like that when I broke my ankle, hope you get seen soon x

greasypolemonkeyman · 20/03/2024 16:33

This is exactly what my fit looked like when it was broken after steering down a very small Kerb slightly awkwardly

3luckystars · 20/03/2024 16:35

Wow that is massive bruise. Did she jump off a wardrobe?

I hope you get seen soon x

It’s a bruise not fake tan 🤣.

Sorry about your bum, @VickyEadieofThigh

I thought it was fake tan at first. That is some bruise you've got there.

Exciting update - I have just noticed my other foot is also bruised. Which is weird because I don’t recall any kind of injury to that one 😵‍💫

Must have been a good wedding!

Noseybookworm · 20/03/2024 16:47

I had very similar bruising from someone pushing a chair back and sitting down on it while the chair leg was on my foot! It really hurt at the time and was swollen up next day but then my whole foot went black & blue. I didn't seek any medical attention though looking back I probably should have got an xray 😬 it healed up fine though. Hope you haven't broken any bones 💐

OwwMyFoot · 20/03/2024 17:11

Well that was annoying. I finally got called through and the person I saw didn’t seem too worried about it, he said probably best to get it x rayed though to be on the safe side. Then he spoke to the X-ray people who said they were just shutting down for the day so I’d have to come back tomorrow. It’s about a 40 min drive and I don’t think I can be arsed, he didn’t seem overly worried.

Go back tomorrow, just get it done .

nononocontact · 20/03/2024 17:33

This happened me before. Bruises tend to be itchy when they’re healing. I wouldn’t worry about it. Stick a bit of Savlon on and give it a week.

Elebag · 20/03/2024 17:38

Just get it x-rayed. You don't want to walk around on a break and it could get infected. You don't get spare feet.

My broken ankle barely had a flicker of a bruise, although I was in a&e within an hour and a boot two hours after that so I didn't compound the damage from the start.

EscapeWithABook · 20/03/2024 17:38

I would get it checked out to be honest. Sorry - just realised you’ve been.

NotQuiteNorma · 20/03/2024 17:55

What the fucking hell was she wearing on her feet when she trod on you, flipping daggers??

A&e...you need an X-ray...

Rosiiee · 20/03/2024 18:33

Gee OP!!! My feet hurt just looking at it!!!! I’d go back for the xray. Even if it’s a hairline fracture you’ll need a boot because they can progress to a full break.

rainyskylight · 20/03/2024 18:41

Hi OP - I’ve had a bruise like that before when I turned my foot falling off a curb. The bruise was fascinating, loved all the colours and how it pooled in dark purple amongst the toes. It hurt horrendously but I never went to A&E and it was fine, although in retrospect I did think I should have gone and got it checked out.

The itching is probably just the skin healing, especially as it’s come on delayed after the event. Itchiness is a sign of healing.

hope it’s all ok!

Lovemycat2023 · 20/03/2024 20:33

My bruises always itch really badly as they heal. Try some arnica for the bruising, and watch out for infection signs.

I wonder if the other foot was injured by you pulling away or falling slightly off balance when you were trodden on?

Zoombaroomba · 20/03/2024 20:41

🤣🤣🤣 oh my word you poor thing it isn't funny really, but it must have been some wedding!!!!

MiniCooperLover · 20/03/2024 20:44

How do you have bad bruising on both feet ??!? 😮

Doyouthinktheyknow · 20/03/2024 20:47

Holy fuck, that’s some bruising!

I would be concerned about a break too, that’s terrible!

Hope it was a good wedding! That must have bloody hurt!

MrsToothyBitch · 20/03/2024 20:49

I would get an x-ray, just in case and I'd definitely ensure the wound is clean and get MIU to check for infection if it seems the itching and swelling has come from there.

That said, my foot and ankle looked that after I sprained both sides of my ankle simultaneously. Whole thing was bruised black and blue and the ankle ballooned. It was incredibly itchy and hot whilst healing, too. So your itching and swelling could be for that reason.

Any chance you rolled your opposite ankle?

OwwMyFoot · 20/03/2024 21:44

Literally no clue what happened to the other one. It was a very good wedding, Irish weddings always are 🤣.

Well my day went from bad to worse after a wasted trip to MIU, so now I’m really grumpy and thinking I don’t care if my foot falls off. Maybe I’ll be more inclined to do it all over again after some sleep 😴
