To be ridiculously proud of DS

So, DS1 is 24 and has ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, long Covid and a 3rd rare neurological condition( I’m not saying what it is as potentially outing, it’s so rare)
He’s suffered with depression and crippling health anxiety (convinced he was dying of cancer). It got so bad at one point he thought he’d be better off dead than living with the misery.
He’s pulled himself out of a very dark pit and got a job!
20 hours a week for now.
Probably won’t seem like a big deal to some but I’m so proud I might burst!

Amazing! Well done to your son xx

ChimbarasiKotapaxi · 19/03/2024 23:49

Congratulations to you both OP

donothing · 20/03/2024 00:16

Utterly awesome
It's such hard work to pull yourself out of depression - he should be very proud of himself. Good luck to him!

Onceuponatimeiwasahoe · 20/03/2024 01:49

That's good and keeping busy, socialising will always help with depression although it's such a big push to get out there. Well done to him

steff13 · 20/03/2024 03:20

That's awesome!

BlastedPimples · 21/03/2024 08:59

Op, it's fantastic news. He's done so well.

Onwards AND upwards.

Very pleased to hear of successes like this.

TealPoet · 21/03/2024 09:59

That’s fantastic! I hope it goes really well for him, and whatever happens next you are right to be proud :)

Mumof2NDers · 21/03/2024 11:58

He’s done a couple of days of training and so far so good! He loves all the women he’s working with and I suspect he’ll be looked after because he does have an air of vulnerability about him. He seems a lot happier in himself already which is brilliant.

What a lovely update 💕

Mumof2NDers · 28/06/2024 09:45

Just thought I’d post with a little (huge) update. DS is still in his job, he and his girlfriend got engaged and they get the keys for their rental 2 weeks today!!
It’s like the job gave him a new lease of life and new found confidence!
Im so happy for them both but a little sad for myself, I’m going to miss him so much!

Fabuous update OP, how lovely. Congratulations to your son and his fiancee

LadyDanburysHat · 28/06/2024 09:48

What a wonderful update. I am so happy for your DS. It can be very hard to pick yourself out of a downward spiral.

nottatroll · 28/06/2024 09:57

@Mumof2NDers congratulations to your son and to you. Your son has achieved what I am hoping for my own son (23, MH difficulties, possibly ND). It is not just the job, but the social contact, routine and increased self esteem that are so important.

nottatroll · 28/06/2024 09:58

Just seen the update! This is wonderful :)

strawberryblue · 28/06/2024 10:01
