AIBU to Think That DJ Shouting 'SEXAYY' at a School Disco with 4-Year-Olds is Absolutely Ridiculous?

I just wanted to share my recent experience at my child's school disco and get your thoughts on whether I'm being unreasonable or not.

So, picture this: I'm at the school disco, surrounded by a bunch of adorable 4-year-olds who are having the time of their lives, dancing away to some catchy tunes. Everything seems great, until the DJ decides to shout "SEXAYY" over the speakers.

Now, call me old-fashioned, but I couldn't believe my ears. I mean, what on earth was the DJ thinking? A school disco is supposed to be a fun and innocent event for young children, not a nightclub.

I understand that DJs want to create a lively atmosphere, but there's a time and a place for everything, right? And in my opinion, shouting suggestive phrases like that at a school event with 4-year-olds is just plain ridiculous.

Am I being unreasonable to expect better from the DJ? Shouldn't they be more mindful of the young audience they're entertaining? Or am I just an old hag?

Just to clarify, It was him shouting 'Some SEXAYY moves and tunes here!' not just 'SEXAYY!'

Did they yell it once or repeatedly?

I'm wondering if they DJ lots of different events and forgot themselves and were subsequently mortified. If not and they genuinely thought it was ok to yell sexy at young children then I think they need telling thats not acceptable

Quite a few times, like 4 or 5 I think? Every time in a new sentence.

DJ was 'bout 35 or so.

I'd have had a word with one of the teachers and asked what they thought. On a good day i might go up and say quietly something to the DJ myself.

BTW this was an infant school disco, with kids aged 4-7 only in it.

Ray Von (rave on, geddit?) is the DJ in Phoenix Nights. He shouts things like that but it's funny as they're usually pensioners in a working men's club.

These weirdo have form. The DJ at my brothers school disco (1994) played the uncensored version of the outta here brothers Wiggle Wiggle to a room of 4-11 year olds. Here is the chorus for anyone unfamiliar:

OP can still raise this with the school, who organised this event and hired the DJ. It's too late to stop it happening. It's not too late to stop it happening again.

I'd definitely mention it to th school to make sure he doesn't get booked again.
