Frank Hestor reportedly said: “It’s like trying not to be racist but you see Diane Abbott on the TV, and you’re just like… you just want to hate all black women because she’s there.
“And I don’t hate all black women at all, but I think she should be shot.
“(The executive) and Diane Abbott need to be shot.”

Abominable, disgusting. Aibu to be incecsed by this?
Money allows all sorts of behaviours apparently, particularly if you give a lot of it to a political party.

Why was Diane Abbott not called to speak today? Apparently she stood up more than 30 times in the H of C but was not invited to speak.
instead the 2 male leaders held the floor.
why is this acceptable?

Starmer gets 6 questions.
FLynn gets 2

Then others on the list get selected.
Then other people not on the list get selected

DuncinToffee · 13/03/2024 21:25

A spokesperson for the Speaker said he "ran out of time" to call Ms Abbott.

A spokesperson for the Speaker said he "ran out of time" to call Ms Abbott.

Indeed.

He must not have seen her bobbing up and down 🧐🧐🧐

IWanderedLonely · 13/03/2024 21:30

Can't abide the woman.

DuncinToffee · 13/03/2024 21:32

IWanderedLonely · 13/03/2024 21:30

Can't abide the woman.

But you can abide racism, sexism and calls for shooting her?

This is not credible, surely?

Can't abide the woman.

And do you have an opinion about the racist, misogynist man who stated that she should be shot?

BIossomtoes · 13/03/2024 21:39

I can’t abide people who condone racism and misogyny.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 13/03/2024 21:40

No doubt plenty have already said but I'll echo the sentiments anyway - it is atrocious that Diane Abbott wasn't called to speak today. Hoyle has lost the plot, far too many massive errors from him lately.

HRTQueen · 13/03/2024 21:41

Diane Abbott so again trying to silence her abs her experience is hijacked by others and she is ignored ffs

shame on our Parliament today very very disappointing from speaker LH

Lampzade · 13/03/2024 21:43

Not impressed with the speaker today.

DuncinToffee · 13/03/2024 21:47

More on Hoyle's decision, doesn't make it any better

Spox for the Speaker says in response that he "must select MPs from either side of the House on an alternating basis for fairness".

"This takes place within a limited time frame, with the chair prioritising Members who are already listed on the Order Paper.

"This week - as is often the case - there was not enough time to call all Members who wanted to ask a question."

Of the 15 members guaranteed a question on the Order Paper, 11 were opposition MPs, meaning the Speaker decided to only select extra govt MPs to balance out questions and did not select opposition MPs who were "bobbing".

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 13/03/2024 21:35

This is not credible, surely?

He found time to call the vacuous Andrea Jenkyns who had nothing to say beyond "let's get out of the ECHR and deport all the asylum seekers".

Lampzade · 13/03/2024 21:37

I can’t abide racism and misogyny

Or incitement to violence.

BIossomtoes · 13/03/2024 21:54

It’s a great pity one of the names on the order paper didn’t give Diane Abbott their slot.

Dweetfidilove · 13/03/2024 21:54

Maggiethecat · 13/03/2024 19:54

Astonishing but are we really surprised?

Heaven knows how that woman has continued as an MP for 37 years.

She is a formidable woman indeed. More than she should ever have needed to be.

Can't abide the woman.

So you know her, personally?

No, I don’t think so.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 13/03/2024 22:12

I cannot believe what I saw today. A whole debate about a woman who was IN THE FUCKING ROOM. And she was not called. It is mind blowing. I am not a fan of hers (and yes, I have personal experience to base that on) but regardless of what you think about her views, how can any one decent and just bloody human, think that what happened was ok. How the fuck was she not the first person to say what she thought? How could people not cede to her when they were called? I felt for Hoyle in the recent kerfuffle, but I think I totally lost respect for all of them today.

But was the ‘debate’ about her though?

Wasn’t it really just political point scoring. She herself has expressed disappointment in KS’s focus on the return of the money. Makes you think the allegations and threat to DA were just tangential to each leader’s interests.

And the speaker was probably of a similar view.

And let’s not forget why Diane Abbott is currently suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party!

I think you are spot on @Maggiethecat but it still felt so wrong to have her there without hearing from her. I guess they all knew she would say they were all shit at how they handled things. I dont agree with a lot of her views, but I felt for her today.

I think that’s what makes it worse for me, she should’ve had the opportunity to call them out for this.

I agree @BIossomtoes . You would’ve thought somebody would have had the decency but at the same time, they probably never imagined she wouldn’t be called upon.
