I know there's going to be a wide variety of different jobs but what do you do?

I’m an Executive Assistant, fully wfh and have done for the last 6 years. I travel approx once per month to meet my exec and teams around Europe.

idontlikealdi · 05/03/2024 12:35

proposal manager, WFH 3 days a week before Covid and not full WFH, sometimes need to go to an office, less than once a month

Containerhome · 05/03/2024 12:36

We own restaurants. I work from home, doing admin, accounts, social media, Payroll, stock ordering, website maintenance and other bits and bobs.

We have 3 places so it takes up a lot of my time. I only really need to go out for.work when I go to see my accountant once or twice a year. My husband works on site. I only go when I feel like it or if we have new members of staff etc.

My username is fairly self explanatory lol

I submit import customs declarations for a global logistics company - so basically telling HMRC the value and types of goods companies are importing and ensuring the correct duties and VAT are paid.

Started WFH at the start of the Covid lockdowns, I was working for a company as a web designer, then I moved to another as a UX designer and I'm about to move on to another as a product designer.

All much of a muchness in terms of duties tbh. The latter two have been / are one day in the office a week but it doesn't always come to pass.

I did find it hard WFH during lockdown but nowadays, where we're all free to leave our homes, I find it much easier. I don't think I could cope without the flexibility now. Things like the school run, childcare and housework are all made a bit easier without the two hours a day wasted commuting.

MadamVastra · 05/03/2024 12:48

NHS admin

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 05/03/2024 12:50

I work for the local government. My office is 5 minutes walk from home but I go to the office once every 3 months or so.

Meadowfinch · 05/03/2024 12:53

Blessedbethefruitz · 05/03/2024 12:53

Editor. I write b2b tech magazines. Dp is also wfh but only 3 days a week, in finance with the local council.

Edit - I do travel a few times a year, Africa, Asia type things, and day events to London.

ForeverWinter · 05/03/2024 13:07

HR, can be fully remote if I want to but I choose to go into the office once a week/every couple of weeks just to see people

Hubby works in games and is fully remote (again he can go to the office he just chooses not to)

aynsleyredder · 05/03/2024 13:09

Accounts admin. Hate it and currently on the look for a completely different career.

Edithisoverthere · 05/03/2024 13:11

Writer - there's travel there if I want it but I never do!

Projectme · 05/03/2024 13:11

Compliance consultant for Financial Advisors. Worked from home for 13 years.

PandorasBoxers · 05/03/2024 13:17

Civil servant (although I’m expected to go in once a week from next month)

Dweetfidilove · 05/03/2024 13:19

Local government. As of last month expected to go in twice per month.

EllieQ · 05/03/2024 13:20

I work in finance in local government. I could WFH most of the time, but usually go in for three days a week as I like the change of scene and live within walking distance of work.

Most people in the council can wfh, but are expected to come into the office occasionally (once a week/ month) as their manager requires - it varies from team to team.

yogpot · 05/03/2024 13:26

Head of marketing, small tech start up. Fully remote. I work 24 hours a week, basically at my discretion when: some weeks I do more, some (most lol) weeks I do less. There is no office to go to but there is space I can use if I fancy a trip to London on the company card!

InTheForestInTheNight · 05/03/2024 13:26

Howmanycatsistoomany · 05/03/2024 13:30

Lindy2 · 05/03/2024 13:33

PA for a trades company.

I do the invoicing, bookings, advertising etc.

It's school hours and I have a child with a disability so it fits my work and home needs really well.

Abracadabra12 · 05/03/2024 13:33

I run a small charity. Some of the team work entirely from home, I go into a shared desk space about once a week

mindutopia · 05/03/2024 13:36

I'm an academic, working mainly as a clinical researcher but I do some lecturing as well (that's mostly f2f now, but still some online - but f2f is a few days a year really). So most of my day is spent doing project management, data analysis, running (online) meetings (my team is all over the UK and no budget for travel), and writing.
