I know there's going to be a wide variety of different jobs but what do you do?

I’m an Executive Assistant, fully wfh and have done for the last 6 years. I travel approx once per month to meet my exec and teams around Europe.

Same but work on contracts. Not technically all wfh but 3 days at home.

Yellowpopit · 05/03/2024 20:06

I am a carer for my dc with SEN/medical conditions

anonima · 05/03/2024 20:06

NHS knowledge specialist/librarian

Involves a lot less interaction with books than you might think 😁

maddiemookins16mum · 05/03/2024 20:18

Tax Accountancy - WFH full time for the last two years, it’s been life changing after 41 years of going to an actual workplace.

Myotheripodisayoto · 05/03/2024 20:25

I work in the finance function of a large company. I do 2 days in the office & 3 at home. my colleagues in my immediate sub team are split, just over 50% are in london, the others are split between new york, another uk city & a european city. I also have a partner team i work with a lot in hong Kong.

Hybrid works really really well for us, the time in the office is pleasant and useful, more than 3 days would be a real waste of commute time however and we'd lose a lot of staff, lots of parents (women especially) who used to work 50/50 or 3 days a week are happy to do 4 if its hybrid.

Ponderingwindow · 05/03/2024 20:28

Data scientist.
switched to wfh long before covid.

coxesorangepippin · 05/03/2024 20:29

Proposal manager here too

Myotheripodisayoto · 05/03/2024 20:34

I'd love a remote, term time, 2 days a week work from home job!

2 days a week term time job works out as only actually working 78 days a year. Spread over typical year with 5 weeks annual leave its equivalent to only 1.7 days a week. Is there a reason you can't work a bit more than that?

PinotPony · 05/03/2024 20:48

Medical negligence solicitor.

WFH throughout covid but now we're back in the office a couple of days a week. We realised that the junior fee earners really needed more interaction in person to improve their learning.

2024namechange · 05/03/2024 20:56

Local Authority Strategy - WFH anywhere between 1 and 5 days a week but 3 on average

ManchesterLu · 05/03/2024 20:58

I'm a proofreader for a publishing house. Also run a YouTube channel which is growing nicely and is a nice little earner.

MumAsYouAre · 05/03/2024 21:06

I WFH three days a week as a credit control assistant manager.

ThingsBeingVarious · 05/03/2024 21:09

Artist. I work mostly in my home studio, sometimes out in the countryside around me taking photographs, and sometimes lounging on my sofa dealing with social media which is where I do all my selling.

catgirl1976 · 05/03/2024 21:13

Head of People and Payroll. WFH three days a week. Would like to make it five ideally but that’s a no go with my current employer. Would leave for five days wfh but just signed up to a car lease scheme and a funded qualification so not an option for the next three years.

Firebird83 · 05/03/2024 21:14

Freelance translator

Objectrelations · 05/03/2024 21:19

Environmental/climate policy for government - wfh about 75% of the time

soupofpasta · 05/03/2024 21:23

@MadamVastra How did you get into NHS Admin please? Even in a non WFH role. I've tried applying but the posts usually close early and haven't had an interview. I have a qualification in Medical Administration and currently volunteer for a charity in Admin.

lechatnoir · 05/03/2024 21:28

Work fully remote for a national charity. I’m one up from entry level so pay is pretty crap (sub £30k in the SE) but do enjoy the work, have lovely colleagues, it’s v.relaxed and I manage my own diary and workload with minimal pressure or intervention. I really should be job hunting for more pay but it’s hard to move when you consider the work/life balance of my current role and how I’ve been able to manage various personal issues without any interruptions to my work . About 75% of my organisation are remote with the rest hybrid. Anyone wanting remote working opportunities, there are plenty in the 3rd sector but likely at a lower salary.

JustFrustrated · 05/03/2024 21:37

Business development.

Very pressured but control my own diary. Voluntarily go into the office once a week/every 2 weeks.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 05/03/2024 21:42

I'm a construction buyer. I'm supposed to do one day in the office a week but it's not set in stone and I'm not going this week. I go to one of my sites maybe once a fortnight.

I've been approached by two jobs this week and one offered 1/2 days a week WFH and the other none at all, so I'm a bit worried it's dying out.

Franklynne · 05/03/2024 21:44

Graphic designer. I work part-time, 3 days for 25k a year.

Jovacknockowitch · 05/03/2024 21:48

Niche role in IT - been 100% wfh since 2013 at several different jobs.

hellsBells246 · 05/03/2024 21:49

Copy editor/proofreader

Ooh, sounds interesting! Covering proofreading-related videos?

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 05/03/2024 21:50

Information Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance. I head up a Global team that covers company compliance for:

  • Privacy
  • Information Security
  • Quality
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery.

99.9% WFH, very occasional trips into an office somewhere in the world for an audit or strategy development week.
