I know there's going to be a wide variety of different jobs but what do you do?

OP posts:
ThisHonestQuail · 05/03/2024 13:36

Private client tax adviser. I despise wfh but nobody goes into the office anymore.

BorlandRd · 05/03/2024 13:40

University administrator. I don't have a student facing role, so I only go in occasionally for specific reasons. I had this job pre-covid, so the wfh aspect of my job has nothing to do with the changing world of work after the pandemic. I don't love my job (nor do I hate it) - but it pays well for what it is, and allows me to do all the school runs etc, so I am quite content :)

Eyesopenwideawake · 05/03/2024 13:41

Remedial hypnotist.

Iamblossom · 05/03/2024 13:48

Customer Success Manager for a large Software Company. WFH with occasional visits to clients in London for example and also in Europe.

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/03/2024 13:51

@mrstambourinewoman this is the dream - am currently retraining in hope of achieving the same.

Do you mind me asking what you write?

TheGriffle · 05/03/2024 13:52

I work in social housing processing housing applications to join the housing waiting list. We work 4 days from home, 1 in the office.

moreshitandnofuckingredemption · 05/03/2024 14:36

Software developer

potato57 · 05/03/2024 14:41

All kinds of things, I write ebooks and blog posts, record workshops, do social media management, etc.

TallulahBetty · 05/03/2024 14:43

Debt Advisor, although I am actually hybrid, but I set my own WFH/WFO days according to my workload.

ISeeTheLight · 05/03/2024 14:46

I head up a large team in an international advertising agency (partner level). We're fully remote but don't hire anyone with less than 2 yrs experience.

jackstini · 05/03/2024 14:47

Export Sales manager covering Europe for a US company

Devilshands · 05/03/2024 15:56

PandorasBoxers · 05/03/2024 13:17

Civil servant (although I’m expected to go in once a week from next month)

Where?!

I don’t know a single CS in London who goes in less than 3 days a week (except me but my job involves significant travel so I go into London less)

MarkWithaC · 05/03/2024 16:08

Freelance book editor.
Should probably get out and see people more, but TBH I enjoy not having to talk to anyone Grin

Beezknees · 05/03/2024 16:09

Customer service for an energy company. In office 1 or 2 days a week.

therespeopleoutthere · 05/03/2024 16:09

call center, not the best job but it allows me to work remotely and not leave the house

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/03/2024 16:11

@MarkWithaC can I ask where you find your work or do people come to you?

WingsofRain · 05/03/2024 16:11

IT support, networks, desktop operating systems and servers.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 05/03/2024 16:13

We run our own business, I do the admin/bookings/accounts etc.

TheChosenTwo · 05/03/2024 16:18

Admin. Go to the office once a week, all the admin have to do a day in the office purely so we can deal with the 2 bits of post that come in over the course of the week 😂 still, it’s a change of scenery and I have a lovely view of the London skyline from my desk!

TubeScreamer · 05/03/2024 16:20

Parish Council Clerk. Mostly wfh with one evening meeting per month

MarkWithaC · 05/03/2024 16:20

From old colleagues (I started in-house) and their colleague/friends/successors. People moving to new publishers and taking my details with them. General word of mouth. A few publishers actively encourage freelancers to apply to be put on the books. Quite a lot more don't, but will give you a go if you approach them.

IamaRevenant · 05/03/2024 16:22

Lawyer (inhouse for a company rather than at a law firm).

I currently job seeking and am ideally looking at roles with maybe one day a week in the office (I've been WFH full time since COVID and would like a little bit more human interaction - WFH definitely has its pluses but can be a bit isolating!).

Work2live · 05/03/2024 16:26

Marketing for a large tech consultancy.

Go into the office 3-4 times a year, usually for team building or conferences.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 05/03/2024 16:31

University academic. I go in to teach, which is about once a week at the moment. Other than that, everything I do (admin, marking, writing, research, recruitment, etc) is online. All meetings are online too, despite an edict from the senior team last Sept that we should all be getting back to meetings in person. It hasn't happened and I can't see any reason why it will now. Senior team are the worst for doing everything online anyway!

I like teaching f2f but I am never going to commute in just to sit in the office for the sake of it, ever again.

MinnieMountain · 05/03/2024 16:34
