To be appalled at these parents trying to force a girls football team to let their son join?

The FA is threatening to suspend a girls’ football league after a boy’s parents complained because they wouldn’t let him join.

There’s nothing in the report about the boy being trans, or identifying as a girl- he just doesn’t want to play with boys and doesn’t have the ability level.

I’m just gobsmacked at the entitlement of these parents, which they are also teaching their son - that they expect a girl to have to lose her place on a team just because he isn’t good enough to play with the boys.

DM article- so far not being reported by any other news outlets but will keep checking.

What gets me is that the FA banned women's football for fifty years or more to start with. When women and girls were finally allowed to play, at all, it was strictly segregated into boys and girls teams from age 11 - and several England women players were chucked off boys' teams at that age.

And now it's oh everyone can play together. Move over for the boys, girls.

The FA can absolutely just FUCK OFF as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe women (and therefore by default girls) are getting too big for their boots… Can’t risk women’s football becoming more popular than the men’s for a second time, now can we?! Cutting off access to single sex teams until the age of 16 is an interesting choice because this is the age, when kids (aka boys) often go to football academies and by then it’s pretty much too late for girls to start training, talent or no talent.

Ridiculous situation. I have a boy and a girl who both play cricket, they are separated into different sex teams - they have to be for safety apart from anything else. Surely it should be the same for other sports.

Why are some posters not getting the point that most boys are on the whole physically stronger than most girls? Therefore -

If your daughter chooses to play in a boys/predominantly boys team that is a risk you and your daughter have assessed and decided you are comfortable with.

The other way round those girls are not able to risk assess and say they are comfortable with the risk presented playing with or opposite a person who is likely much stronger physically.

And outliers to the size/strength thing are not what this decision should be made on

Didn’t think I’d be getting these out again so soon

Where can I get print quality?

Leaving aside the argument that it's massively unfair to the girls (I'm stunned that anyone thinks otherwise) what is it teaching the boy about resilience?
The parents who think the rest of the world should bend to suit their precious child aren't doing them any favours at all, said child will get a shock when the rest of the world eventually says no.

I don’t know the details but if it’s as is being reported here I hope all the girls in the team resign their spots and start their own team. Madness. What is going through the parents’ heads?

It's not one team but the whole league being threatened. 6000 girls in 300 teams faced with being shut down if they do not allow this one boy to play.
