To not like the way DH eats his boiled eggs?

It’s messy and it makes no sense.

DH boils his eggs and then puts them on his buttered toast. He then cuts them in half, puts one half in the egg cup, puts in a soldier but the yolk spurts out as there is no shell to accommodate the extra toast volume. The yolk dribbles down the side and his fingers are all buttery as he touched the egg which has been sitting in melted butter so everything else he touches is all buttery.

And then he asks me how I eat my boiled eggs so neatly and how does the egg cup stay clean? And then we argue because he says he’s a grown man with a grown up job and he can eat his eggs the way he wants to. And I say why did you ask me then?

No diagram but I have photos if you want them.

AIBU: he can eat them the way he wants to fgs
YANBU: it’s a waste of egg and butter

I get told off by my DD for cutting a slice of bread down the middle. It should be cut into triangles cos it tastes better apparently. She's 22, by the way.😃

The crust to piece ratio is much better if you cut on the diagonal.

Nothing about what your DH is doing makes any sense @HibiscusDubonnet. How does he manage to dip toast in the egg (and drip the yolk everywhere) if half the egg is still sitting on the slice of toast.

The answer to this is, however, to buy an induction-friendly poaching pan.

He sounds like a moron

I explained your DH's method to my DH and he walked off in disgust and accused me of trawling the dark web for disturbing content Grin

Eggs-ibit A, Your Honour: half an egg still in situ on the toast and half an egg in the cup with aforesaid yolk running down the side.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the wee donkey, too. Apparently, your husband gets his eggs at the meat counter, because he’s sure as hell trying to butcher them.

Tell him to get in the sea.

Odd. But why do you care. He eats it. It's a bit messy admittedly. So? All goes in the dishwasher anyway so why do you care?

I don't understand how he gets so much yolk on the egg cup.

He loses a lot on the toast & then has a wide part to put the toast in!

Have showed this to DH and he is quite impressed. Something for Fathers Day, methinks.

What a great idea with a box of Clarence Court Burford Browns so he can learn to save and appreciate that lovely yolk without waste. Let’s face it, they’re too expensive to spill down the side.

Are you serious? Life’s a journey and you find things out as you go along-you don’t have a bloody check list 🙄 really don’t care for the ‘ you should have known’ vibe on Mumsnet sometimes- very victim blaming.

No, I wasn't being serious!

You put an egg in an egg cup, take the top off and if it's runny then when you eat it some of it will inevitably go over the edge because you're displacing it with the spoon. I don't see the big deal at all unless he is dribbling it all over the carpets.

The egg cup will have to be washed either way so what's the big deal? I can't understand the obsession with not making the tiniest bit of mess on here - how do people cope with kids? Not to mention he's an adult who can clean up after himself.
