How long after giving birth did your bump go down?

Posting here for traffic lol.

just curious how long after you had your baby did your bump go down? How long was it until you were back into your pre pregnancy clothes? Did you use those belly wraps? was your stomach the same as pre pregnancy or worse or better? I’m expecting my first baby next month and I’ve not put much weight on but I’m hoping to get back into my size 8 clothes by summer and to feel good lol. I’ve bought those belly wraps to use to help with healing and I’m praying the weather is decent and my son loves the pram so I can take him on plenty of walks in the fresh air

Stop worrying about your hair/weight/vaping/pnd/yourself and concentrate on your baby. This is meant to be a time of buying teeny blue socks, thinking about names, wondering what he will look like and all of your posts are very much about you and if baby doesn’t step in line he’ll be in care.
You have been told on every thread to get help, speak to your midwife or gp because your thinking isn’t normal.

Had a c section, back in my pre baby clothes in a few weeks and lost so much weight breastfeeding was over a stone lighter than my normal weight. God knows what will happen with second baby though have heard that isn't as straightforward

GettingStuffed · 27/02/2024 21:47

Still got it 32 years later ( babies were between 8lb and 10 lb

Jandob · 27/02/2024 21:50

2 c sections. And your bones move. Plus you're a weird shape for a bit.

TheChosenTwo · 27/02/2024 22:02

12 years and counting…
Mine did go down really but it’s not flat nor will it ever be because 1) my body has changed after carrying and birthing 3 children and 2) I don’t care enough to try as hard as it might be to get it properly flat again.

A couple of weeks.

DS1 was BF and a very hungry baby so the weight fell off. I walked a lot too with the pram.

I then had twins with one in intensive care so had to go back and forth 6x a day as well as expressing milk so again the weight seemed to just go.

Wirh my first, I was the same weight (8'3) and wearing the same clothes at both my 6 week ante natal and 6 week lost natal checks.

Wasn't through any effort on my part. It just happened. I didn't put on excessive (ir really any) weight during pregnancy though.

Second time, I was 9'3 when I became pregnant and was half a stone lighter by the time she was born.

First was writing a week, second about a month, and third I'll have to get back to you when it happens 😂 babies 15 months old and the weight just won't go 😭

As PP have pointed out OP, you really need to reach out properly to your midwife as you're clearly struggling with your mental health.

You have started many threads about your appearance during pregnancy and afterwards including you hair, post pregnancy weight, fake tanning and fillers.

You have also had threads about losing your job and blaming your unborn baby, about your disabilities, about how much care you expect family and friends to give you and about vaping. Plus the deleted one about prioritising your dogs sharing your bedroom than your newborn. You have on many threads suggested you'll put your baby into care if he gets in the way of your social life, YouTube videos and beauty treatments, or impacts your ability to keep a future job.

You need more support than mumsnet can offer you. You and your baby both deserve you to be as well as you can be and that means seeking support from your midwife. Not just saying you're feeling a bit anxious but properly opening up to her as you have on these threads.

My twins are 12. I'm still waiting 😭😂

You will probably be fine to fit into most of your pre-pregnancy clothes if you haven’t gained much weight. I was 68kg at the end of my pregnancy, gave birth end of Jan and I now weigh 57kg with a flat stomach. I am exclusively breastfeeding though, so I would recommend waiting until after baby is six weeks to introduce formula as your uterus will contract back and you will burn the pregnancy weight off faster if you’re making more milk for baby. I get out for a daily walk with baby in the carrier and don’t really fancy eating much chocolate etc but still eat three meals a day.

My bump went away after a few days but my weight took almost 3 years to shift as post partum triggered an underactive thyroid which remained undiagnosed for over 2 and a half years. Symptoms blamed on being a "new mum".

I lost all the weight and even more after I was medicated.

My stomach was virtually the same afterwards bar a few additional white stretch marks.

I bottle fed.

elp30 · 27/02/2024 23:07

My bump and weight went away within a week of giving birth to my first child.
It took about three months for the second child.
I'm still waiting, 23 years later, for the baby weight to leave me.

Topray · 27/02/2024 23:14

First baby, in my 20s, didn’t show at all until the third trimester, neat little bump even at the end. I literally snapped back to a tiny toned flat tummy at was in size 8 jeans a week later. Zero stretch marks.

Pregnant again a few years later and expected the same 🙄Nope! Showed so much quicker and had a big round bump. Still looked six months pregnant after giving bump. Tbh it’s been a few years now and I STILL can’t shift the ‘empty bump’ leftover.

IHateLegDay · 27/02/2024 23:49

After DC1 it was about a month or so.
After DC2 it didn't. 4.5 years later and I still have a belly.
