I read something recently that suggested walking up stairs on tiptoes to build up calf muscles....

Is this not the ONLY way to walk up stairs? I've always walked up stairs on tiptoes and can't imagine an other way...

Am I weird?

(And yes, I've always had good calf muscles)

Used to slide downstairs in our flammable nylon sleeping bags as kids. That was a fun weekend activity.
They were sooo fast and the glass front door was directly at the bottom of the stairs. Lots of face planting into it but never going through it though.
Used to get a really hot bum with the velocity of that nylon! Amazed we didn't burst into flames.

Mine - up them them on all fours like a dog, often accompanied by woofing if racing my daughter's (who do it normqlly)

My mum's- 1 set coming down sliding on my bum like a slide as they are really shallow.
Other set is like a half spiral with hand rails so I swing down using the rails to launch through the door at the bottom.

I'm so glad I'm not so abnormal now.

Usually all 4s if not carrying anything, sonetines I mix it up and run upright but usually 2 at a time. Out and about I wouldn't usually put hands on public steps but I have ran up a few (very) steep stone castle staircases on all 4s!

Work has a lighthouse and we have to go down backwards as the ladder steps are so steep.

Scamper on all fours at home though.

Work has a lighthouse

Mind blown. What job do you do?

WotNoUserName · 21/02/2024 00:31

Just been up and down to check. I go flat footed. Sometimes I go noisily on all fours because it's fun.

Also, I can tell which of my children are coming down the stairs by the noise of their footsteps.

I'm surprised at all the quadrupedal goings on!

I lost it on the second post 🤣
I would literally die if someone recorded me going up stairs and made me watch it. I run up and down. I don't know why I do this considering how many times I've fallen on my arse.
I have a forward lean too, so it's like I'm sprinting. I'm such a weirdo.

Edited

That sounds like an accident waiting to happen going down! 😂😂😂
