I read something recently that suggested walking up stairs on tiptoes to build up calf muscles....

Is this not the ONLY way to walk up stairs? I've always walked up stairs on tiptoes and can't imagine an other way...

Am I weird?

(And yes, I've always had good calf muscles)

All fours like a galumphing bear whenever I get the chance. I never knew there were so many of us! This has made my day.

JennyfromtheBlok · 19/02/2024 22:11

@Bunnyhair hope you also make a lot of noise banging on the stairs. I’m not sure why I have to do this !!

QueenBean22 · 19/02/2024 22:11

I do t know I’m gonna have to go up stairs to find out

Redglitter · 19/02/2024 22:11

I've got mobility and knee problems and going up on all 4s honestly is soooo much easier

JLxx · 19/02/2024 22:12

the beginning of eastenders theme tune coming down the stairs

Most times, but I also sometimes like to slink up silently like a panther.

peanutbutterkid · 19/02/2024 22:16

xH plods up or down flatfootedly.

I tend to run. The family said I was an elephant going up/down.

Norugratsatall · 19/02/2024 22:17

Tiptoes always. To strengthen calf muscles.

I also go up silent panther style sometimes, when my cat has chosen the top landing to snooze on. I like to see how close I can creep up on him

Mini trampoline at the bottom, a few jumps, then I somersault to the top. 😆

I'm starting to think people might not be joking about crawling up their stairs on all 4's! What madness is this that you go up like a dog? How steep are your stairs??? 😕

Genuinely not joking!

CatchAButterfly · 19/02/2024 22:34

Oh others do all fours too?! I thought I was in a very small minority!

In front of other people, I walk up by putting my entire foot flat on the step.

PatriciaHolm · 19/02/2024 22:37

Another hands and foot here. Or high knees jog if I've been sitting for a while!

TeabySea · 19/02/2024 22:39

BrutusMcDogface · 19/02/2024 20:58

I go on all fours.

(genuinely, unless I’m carrying something! 😂)

Glad it's not just me.

That said, I tend not to do it if we have people over. They don't need to know quite how weird I am.

WeAreBorg · 19/02/2024 22:39

I reckon the people who claim they don’t go up the stairs on all fours are lying. As if they just walk on their feet! Doesn’t make sense

Same! On all fours, my stairs are steep.

JellaBeans · 19/02/2024 22:49

I climb up the banister. I find it more comfortable as I can hold on better to prevent tripping

spiderlight · 19/02/2024 22:49

I am genuinely relieved to learn that I'm not the only person who goes up on all fours at home!!

Fraaahnces · 19/02/2024 22:50

I have always gone upstairs on tippy toes but now my physio has said I must use my feet flat because I have not been engaging my glutes.

PickAChew · 19/02/2024 22:53

Carefully. My coordination isn't the best and there's a rather dicey turn in our staircase.

I descend even more carefully.

Lamelie · 19/02/2024 22:54

I was sure there was a Dalek emoji 🥺

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/02/2024 22:54

With difficulty. Bad back, arthritic knees and weak ankles, also currently broken foot. Live in a bungalow.

Moier · 19/02/2024 22:58

I sit down...

I have a stair lift.

Nope. It's true.
