Not aibu just intrigued. This thread was done on here ages ago and it was so fun. I have two:

Pasta is gross, I'll eat it but its not delicious as people make it out to be its cold slimy dough.

I'm sure she's nice but Beyonce is overrated.

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 20/02/2024 14:35

That dogs are horrible and dirty creatures and I don't want to touch them.
That prosecco is disgusting.
That Taylor Swift's music is boring (not that I have heard much of it, but what I have was too boring to entice me to listen to any more).

Most (almost always male) cyclists are rude and arrogant, and should be banned from public roads unless they are going to work, or doing food shopping.

Most men who do lots of sports (cycling, fishing, golf etc,) do it to get away from the wife and kids.

Most single people (never married, not married 20+ years and widowed or divorced,) are kidding themselves when they say they are deliriously happy to be on their own for their entire life.

NOBODY is interested in your children, or seeing dozens of photos a week of them on facebook - except the grandparents, and at a push, occasionally aunties.

Wishing someone a happy birthday on Facebook who has no Facebook account is ludicrous.

Your mid 20s to mid 30s (23 to 37,) is the optimum age for having a baby. Any earlier is too soon, and any later is too late.

If you have to announce that you're middle class, you're not middle class.

Genuine wealth/old money don't brag about expensive designer gear, and claim to eat lobster, cavier, and oysters, and drink champagne, as a 'snack.'

Anyone using the word 'naice' to describe something - eg where they live is insecure and wants people to like them, so they try to get people to think they're something they're not.

Being a stay-at-home mum is the best thing a woman can do for her children - and I say that as someone who worked when my kids were little/at school, albeit part time, 3 days a week (then gave up work when they were 8 to 15,) then started part time again.

No-one is impressed, if you have a partner who is old enough or young enough to be your parent, or child.

Most people don't cook from scratch, because it's boring and pointless and doesn't save any money in the long run, and much 'pre-made' stuff that you just stick in the oven or microwave, tastes just as good.

The majority of people who claim (on here) to earn £100K a year actually don't.

Guess you didn’t get the ‘lighthearted’ memo.

Why can’t you stand it if some people choose not to eat meat/fish/dairy products? Would it help if vegans and vegetarians lied to you by pretending they ate them?

It’s a ridiculous statement 😂

That whoever invented the Masked Singer needs to be hunted down. And locked in padded cell with it on a 24 hour loop for the rest of their lives.

😂 definitely with you. I’d also like to add Goggle Box, which I haven’t seen but don’t understand watching people watching tv 😳

I love how the dog haters are using it to tell us again how much they don't like dogs.

I'd rather touch a dog than a lot of humans.

@JurassicParkaha

The healthiness of vegetarian and vegan diets is overrated. Case in point South Asian countries with veggie diets and no alcohol who have a lower age of death and greater propensity for bone disease, heart disease, diabetes etc than Mediterranean and some East Asian populations who eat meat/fish/alcohol in moderation.

I agree. Being a vegan your whole life is a bad idea. Many vegans (in the western world) have a superiority complex and think they're better than meat eaters/dairy eaters, and act like they're more intelligent. It's embarrassing. Blush

I know around 8 people (mid to late 20s to early 30s now) who were vegans for 10-12 years, and they gradually introduced themselves to eating dairy again. They knew deep down that being a vegan for life is extremely unhealthy.

I even caught a 'vegan' eating a fruit scone in M & S cafe the other week. (I was walking past the cafe.) I called over 'hiya Louise, enjoying your scone?' Grin She went flame red, and said nothing. She was particularly mortified I think, because she is a preachy vegan. Sorry... 'vegan!' All the LOLz! 😆

I reckon some vegans do sneakily eat dairy, and the odd chicken sandwich when no-one's looking. Grin I mean, they'd have to right?! Who the fuck would be a vegan for life?! Why put yourself through THAT?!

And don't even get me started on people raising their CHILDREN as vegans! Hmm

In the 6th form, people spend hours researching which university they want to go to. In university, people spend hours researching which career they want. While at work, people spend hours researching which pension plan they want. People spend their whole lives researching and planning the next phases of their existence. But how many actually spend more than five minutes researching what will happen after they die? IME, most people spit on their finger, hope it will all be okay because they've led a 'good' life, or they accept the opinion of someone who has long ago poo poohed the thought of life after death.....

If your dead, why would you care? Do you mean funeral planning?

@Gilles27 No. I don't mean funeral planning (though I'm happy for my husband to plan mine). I mean planning for what happens to us after death - what happens to our souls (well - this is a thread about unpopular opinions!)

How is it possible to research what happens after you die?
No one has been able to survive the experience to write or tell us about it!

I think they interview people who were clinically dead, ie no brain activity for a certain amount of time, and then were resuscitated again so some people do live to tell the tale. However, how much of the experience or if any came from when they were actually brain dead and how much is just random stuff thsf your brain has made up after the fact who knows.

I'd dispute that these people were actually dead though. They would have been without intervention, for sure, but clearly they weren't brain dead if they can be returned to normal function.
And yes, whatever happened in those "dead" periods could have a product of a dying, but not yet dead, brain.

I’m not sure this is a fair comparison. Millions of people across South Asia live in poverty. Most South Asians aren’t vegetarian. Also, people of South Asian descent have a higher risk of diabetes than some other ethnicities, which could be partly genetic.
