I know I’m going to get a bit of a flaming here and it’s possible that if you haven’t met people like this it’s hard to understand.

Have just come away from seeing distant relatives briefly and it was a constant push for us to accept drinks, food, sweets for my three year old. They just would NOT accept no thank you.

The only thing I could have done would have been to be downright rude but then that puts a strain on the atmosphere and is uncomfortable for other people so hardly seems fair.

So AIBU to ask - how the hell do you deal with it!?

Oh this one’s close to home for me too! Always my DH side of family. My side know 100% it’s my way or the high way. I’m a dental nurse and my kids have very very low sugar intake. Well any visit is a sugar S#|* show. My kids are so good and know they do eat stuff like that but it’s constant. Elderly gran oh I brought them buttons especially (my kids hate chocolate) no thank you. Oh we’ve got hairbo that’s ok for kids all the kids eat them at said cousins school… MARY JESUS AND JOSEPH stop stop stop. I get it as they see it as a treat! My kids would rather a £1 for a supermarkets turn prize. Ironically my kids have beautiful teeth and his side have horrible teeth!!!
