So....I hate perfume. Body spray...strong smells well synthetic smells anyway. My DD (11) has been asking for body spray as her friends have it. I said no, we can find a natural one I would take her shopping to find one. Today I got off my girl flu fever sofa ( got that cough fever sinus pile of shit) to take her to town with her friend for shopping. That's what she wanted to do in half term. I huddled in a cafe for 3 hours staring into space as my eyes hurt. Anyway...on the way we discuss said body spray...she said it was unfair but she wouldn't buy it ....just went in to see her and the two bottles are in her dresser! She said they are her friends who is staying...which I can tell is an absolute lie. I am so peed off with her...I feel like putting her outside with her bloody body spray. Aibu?

Are you for real ? I hate those body sprays too because I enjoy nice expensive perfumes so when my daughter started asking for them I got her a nice proper bottle of perfume instead that she loves . Are still likes the body sprays too but thankfully developed a taste for the nice stuff mostly . Let your child find what are loves, are is not going to have the same exact tastes as you

Me too, but I have to be careful with that - she now has 3 perfumes of her own and is free to take any of mine. I'm afraid I've given her expensive tastes at 15, which she might not be able to finance herself.

Oh dear, you will not survive past 13 if you carry on like this.
Just let her use the body spray.....

This. You're really setting yourself for big problems. She's just trying to join in with something really harmless. I have fond memories of collecting impulse body sprays at her age. I hate anything scented now.

I have that cold you have, OP. Lots of sympathy. I'm knackered as it's keeping me awake, and of it coincided with a different part of my cycle I would be probably feel really angry about silly things too. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Feel better soon OP!

Good luck with the years ahead. I have made it through 3 teen daughters.
At least its not Lynx. My friend who had boys physically retches at that.

Poor kid.

Bluetrews25 · 14/02/2024 08:53

Get well soon, OP. Unless you're enjoying having a reduced sense of smell due to gammy sinuses? (Every cloud...)

Oh thank you. What a slap around the face that is. I fully accept my controlling twat behavior and thank you all. Am back in the sofa feeling irritated at something else now. What an arse I am ☺️

I am glad you have seen sense!
