To Dislike Voice notes?

Just that really, people who voice note instead of texting or phoning. Maybe it's just me but I find it quite overwhelming to stop and find time to listen and then remember what they have said so that I can reply. I tend to just avoid the message for ages as I know that it will require me to make mental notes. Am I the only one?

I like them between me and my friends who live far away we don't have time to call each other these days and texting is a pain for long messages so voice notes are more convenient and conversational.

Hate them - thought it was just me being an old fogey - my teenage kids use them all the time with their friends to chat. I either listen and forget or forget to listen!

I detest them.

They always seem to start with "I thought a voice note would be easier..."

No.

Yes! They do 😂

And they are never easier!

I've one former colleague that I exchange voice notes with. She's retired & is a lovely bubbly person.

She leaves voice notes like podcasts, full of news and updates. She'll often realise she's been talking for ages & will finish, only to send another one a few minutes later when she's remembered something else.

I reply when I can, and there are usually a few months between our messages.

But I like them because there's no expectation, I don't have to do anything.

I hate with a passion the voice notes that are sent about a task they want me to do or a date something is on & I am frazzled & rushing replaying & trying to note the details.

I don't see the point of them, just ring and talk or leave a message instead! Texting takes seconds. Messages should be short and to the point however they are sent, who wants to listen or read to a load of old bilge?

I voicenote myself to rubber duck my work. I find it v useful.

I love them. I think the longest I've received is about 30 minutes! I just reply as it goes to any points, by starting and pausing a voicenote.

Oh good god, 30 minutes? I'd be bored to tears and frustrated as hell trying to listen to that!
