Is it gross to fancy someone twenty years younger

Hatethetermcougar · 11/02/2024 20:24

It feels ick to like someone that age, but I don’t feel my age (46)
Its only an actor, not anyone in real life, but still seems so young at 27 and not a crush I’d usually have
Eurgh it’s depressing, seems not long ago that all crushes were older or at least the same age

Actors are chosen to be attractive, handsome, charismatic, so it would be strange if you didn't notice that. Now, if you met him in real life and started hitting on him, that would be quite different, but far away fancying is fine. I don't tend to like the younger ones any more myself though, they are all too babyish faced these days for me. I honestly was thinking how I'd love to date Charles Dance recently and he's about 70 odd. Plus in reality he has a hot younger partner anyway!

@Mindymomo Snap! Those eyes though

Actor on TV who you have never met - fine.

Friend’s son - icky.

This really. If it's a film star it's not real, so totally harmless in my view. I mean, even if you were the same age it would be a fantasy, being film stars, if you know what I mean.

I'm 42 and can't imagine fancying anyone more than 10 years younger.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it mind, but dating anyone 20 years younger is a bit ick.

I fancy men 20 years younger and older than me. It’s not a big deal, I’m never even going to meet them in real life, and if I did fancy a real person in those age groups I wouldn’t act on it.

I also fancy men who aren’t that age any more, like I’ll fancy a 40yo in a movie but in real life maybe he’s 80 now, or maybe he’s dead.

SpringerFall · 07/06/2024 05:48

Well for a woman it appears to be OK, but if a man did it the police would be called

Mummadeze · 07/06/2024 05:54

Leo Woodall is gorgeous so you are definitely not being unreasonable.

whyhavetheygotsomany · 07/06/2024 06:23

If this was a man everyone would be disgusted but seems ok for a woman. My friend always fancies young men when we go out. I always say it's like her son's age. Yuck

Eh? That's a silly thing to say isn't it? The police would be called if a man fancied a woman 19 years younger? What's the crime? There are lots of people who are dating or married (shock horror!) to people 19 years their junior nevermind just fancying them. I'm fairly sure the police wouldn't be interested that a 27 year old and a 46 year old had a thing.

Can you imagine how that conversation would play out?

Hello, I'd like to report a crime. I'm a woman in her 50s who finds someone on the telly in his twenties attractive.

Hold on love, we're sending the SAS round right now. Grin

I'm a lady of advanced years, so my list of crushes spans the decades, and I treasure them dearly. My dear partner avers that if one doesn't get a spark of desire from time to time for unsuitable (or at least unavailable) people, one doesn't actually have a pulse. I will not give you the whole list, but it does include Alan Rickman, dead or alive, and Charles Dance and the significantly younger Benedict Cumberbatch.
