To ask your strangest eating habit

Also, what do you eat that a lot of people thinks odd?
So, I eat everything separately, no mixing of food on my fork unlike my husband who likes a bit of this and a bit of that... I also eat things in order that makes my husband 🥴
However, one thing that really annoys him is when I make the stuffing. I love eating the dried stuff straight from the packet, but even more so I love it when I've poured the boiling water over it, mixed it and put butter/marg over it. I eat it straight away before putting it in the oven. It drives my husband bonkers as I've filled myself on the stuffing before dinner and there's less for everyone else... I can't help it, it's just so much tastier that way!!!

I love left over sprouts next day on white bread with butter
And cabbage sandwiches

AF77 · 11/02/2024 22:49

Bolognese (hot) sandwiches on buttered white sliced bread.

GrumpySock · 11/02/2024 23:23

Cereal has to be with hot milk. I cannot stand the idea of ice cold milk in the morning

Tilllly · 11/02/2024 23:24

Omelette sandwiches with lemon juice and mint sauce

There. I've admitted it.

Noooo!

Sometimes I’ll microwave a piece of bread for about 20-30 seconds then add a chunk of butter and fold it over so it melts. Then stuff it in my mouth.

Why not sprinkle them on a plain rice cake to truly experience all the moisture from your entire body disappearing?

Not a bad idea!

OnSecondThoughts · 11/02/2024 23:49

Like others have said, I will sometimes eat my least favourite thing first, and most favourite last, so the meal kind of gets better and better as it goes. Or sometimes I'll eat the thing that goes coldest quickest first, and leave the thing that stays warmest the longest to last (gah, that's too many adjectives in one go, hope it makes sense), so that I don't have to eat anything that's gone too cold.
Sometimes I'll make a little pot of sauce by mixing a bit of tomato puree, bit of marmite, few drops of vinegar, bit of mayo, few drops of olive oil etc etc, and drizzle it over everything on the plate.

murasaki · 11/02/2024 23:51

I used to eat uncooked spaghetti as a snack when a teenager. Only a couple of pieces at a time mind, I'm not mad. Satisfyingly crunchy. This thread has made me think I might start again.

I cut the crusts off both my bacon and fishfinger sandwiches, DP thinks I am ridiculous, but for me it means I like every bite and don't have some sorry bites round the edge that I have to endure to get to the good bits. Every bite is good.

murasaki · 11/02/2024 23:54

Another yes to eating the least nice bits of a meal first. Bye veg, you are gone first on a roast dinner, spuds not included in that, obviously.

susiedaisy1912 · 11/02/2024 23:58

I also Love stuffing when it's mixed with boiled water but before it goes in the oven.

Artichoke heart and garlic mayo toasted sandwich for breakfast. So so so good. I love strong tastes in the morning. In France last summer it was toasted bread with camembert and figs. Bloody delicious. My fiancé thinks I'm a bit odd.

That all sounds delicious! 😋

murasaki · 12/02/2024 00:00

I guess the stuffing thing is a bit like preferring cake mix pre oven to cake. Which I do. So I get that

I could eat an entire jar of mint sauce if I didn’t think it would bore a hole into my stomach lining 😂 I love it.

Ooh yes, me too. Mint sauce is the best!!

As a student I regularly ate chicken Kiev sandwiches and potato waffle sandwiches. Such good food after a night out!!

KnackeredandWiser · 12/02/2024 00:09

Mug Shot sachets are my 'go to' WFH lunch options. They cost 59p each in Home Bargains, but cost a lot more elsewhere. I use 2 sachets for each meal.

Chicken & Mushroom noodles - I add some chicken gravy granules and some soy sauce. Delicious and very filling.

Cheese Pasta - I add some Bisto cheese sauce granules. You need to let it settle a few minutes longer so the pasta softens. Otherwise you can find some crunchy bits....

Hang on, Bisto does cheese sauce granules? This sounds both disgusting and something I need to investigate.

Oh yes they do! It is brilliant!

bibblebobbles · 12/02/2024 00:16

I buy a bowl of bran flakes with raisins and bananas etc

Pour it all into a bowl, eat the fruit pieces and return the bran flakes to the box

Eat the bran flakes alone

It is WEIRD

murasaki · 12/02/2024 00:16

Well I shall hunt some down then
Not to replace an actual cheese sauce, obviously, but in the interests of science/curiosity.

Absolutely! Research pure and simple.

They also do Parsley Sauce, Pepper Sauce, White Sauce and Curry Sauce.

We just use them as a base and stick other stuff in. Much easier than creating sauces from scratch.

Dartmoorcheffy · 12/02/2024 00:27

I actually scrolled back up to see if this was an old thread of my own. I love packet stuffing , rarely cook it, just hit water, butter, salt and white pepper. DP thinks I'm weird. Stuffing sandwiches with cheese are lush.

I also like microwave plain long grain rice, heated then add cubes of cheddar and cucumber .

Cabbage and mash sandwiches (has to be white bread and loads of butter and white pepper.

I will only eat with one particular fork, knife, spoon at home too and only off certain plates.

Ready salted crisps with vinegar, especially the soggy puddle that forms in the bottom of the bag.

OMG I thought I was the only one who had crisps with vinegar, I also love vinegar on fresh bread with lots of butter 😋

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 12/02/2024 00:39

BobbyBiscuits · 11/02/2024 19:49

Haha, I love these type threads! I did try eating the stuffing mix dry once when I was really hungry, haha. I just love it being crispy so much more.

I have a thing about licking crisps. Except salted ones, I always lick/suck the flavour out before then chewing it. Drives my fella mad. I find him crunching the crisps really loudly and eating them really quickly much more disturbing, haha!

I also LOVE eating cheese just before bed. I'm not sure why they say it's meant to be bad or something. I always feel like I need it just before sleeping.

Are you me?! I also suck the flavour out of crisps. I also need to have cheese before I go to bed. Although it does give me some corking batshit dreams at times.

Ooh yum! Potato waffles sandwiches with melted cheese and red sauce was a regular uni meal. Still love it now!
Mint sauce is amazing on any green veg in gravy too - love it slathered on broccoli 😋

BoxOfPaints · 12/02/2024 00:47

Absolutely love uncooked tortellini straight from the packet. Aubergine flavour is the best but spinach and ricotta will do. Topped with my signature 'dressing' of olive oil and Tabasco.
