Sudden lightheadedness

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 21:06

Should I go to A & E... For backstory I had a LETTZ procedure earlier today using local anesthesia. Had it many times before with no problems, anesthesia that is. Anyway, I've been feeling off sorts. All of a sudden I've just had a massiv wave of lightheadedness come over me. Felt like my head was gonna fall off my shoulders and felt like I was gonna pass out. Lasted about 10 seconds, now my heart is absolutely racing and I mean pounding. I'm started to panic and my insides feel like they are burning. My chest area mainly. No pain just like a warm tingle. What should I do?or is it even related to the procedure I had earlier? I feel absolutely awful and I'm getting myself all worked up and hat something is seriously wrong. My DP is getting fed up b cause he thinks I'm being dramatic but I just feel terrible. Granted I've made myself so scared and anxious that I'm probably making it worse. I don't know what to do.

Have a lie down. Relax, breathe deep in and out a few times. If it gets worse in an hour or so ring 101 or 111 whatever the non emergency number is

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 21:19

Now I've gone freezing cold. Teeth chattering cold.Cannot get warm! Starting to panic more.

Can you take your temp to make sure you don't have a fever? Agree with the poster above though.

Wishitsnows · 07/02/2024 21:26

I would go to A&E and get checked. At minimum phone 111

Whoopaday · 07/02/2024 21:27

You can have an infection or a blood clot post procedure. The fact that you want to be seen is a worrying sign as well. I would call 111 as a minimum to get checked out/let someone else make the decision for you. Unless you had a number to ring post op.

Ulysees · 07/02/2024 21:28

Definitely ring 111.

Temporaryname158 · 07/02/2024 21:29

The worst is you are totally fine and are told so by a medical professional having gone to A and E. I would phone 111 for advice but attend A and E if you feel you need to. This must feel frightening and your partner sounds useless. Do you have a friend you can ring who could come over and help/advocate for you whilst you are feeling unwell?

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 21:32

I don't have anyone to help me and we have a toddler in bed. My DP needs taking to work early hours so no chance I'll be able to go A & E while he's not being supprotiv as I could be there for some time couldnt I. I may ring 111 and just see what hat they recommend. I truly feel awful but I'm struggling to differentiate of im just anxious or something is actually wrong. My heart has been racing for a good half and hour now and I'm so so cold.

A high heart rate and chills is not normal under any circumstance, especially after a procedure.

put yourself first. He will have to call in sick to work if you are at A and E, and I think it sounds like you should be

Pigeonqueen · 07/02/2024 21:47

Please ring 111. If your dp isn’t being supportive he is an arse.

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 21:56

I'm starting to feel a.bitbbwtter and m heart rate is coming down with breathing excercises and distraction. Still extremely cold and feel awful. No more lightheadedness and no extreme bleeding or anything. I'm going to call 111 anyway although I feel a bit embarrassed and silly.
Yes right now he is being an arse. He says I'm a hypochondriac. Which yes, admittedly I am. But I know how I'm feeling is real and not made upike he seems to think.

I'm not familiar with the procedure you've had but I can say this is almost exactly how I felt with a PE, not to scare you but you really should get checked ASAP.

Ulysees · 07/02/2024 22:08

Hypochondria is an illness. But even if you are you can still get really ill.

I doubt it's a PE. The procedure is done under local and only takes a few mins. It's to remove pre cancerous cells from the cervix.

I called and they aren't bothered. Apparently dizziness nausea are normal after a LETTZ procedure... 🫣 And they said th fact my.heartbrate has slowed is.good and I haven't had another dizziness episode is also reassuring. Expectant management and see how it goes but attend A&E if worsening or call back.

OP posts:
Wishitsnows · 07/02/2024 22:39

Call back if you feel any worse. When you are feeling better you need to think about what sort of ‘partner’ you are with. He sounds terrible and you would probably be better off without him.

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 22:43

It's baffling me that dizziness is supposed to be normal apparently. I feel better than I did but now I'm just scared.
He has gone to sleep in the spare room as he doesn't want to be disturbed as he has to be up super early. Even though I asked him to stay with me because I was scared. He wouldn't. So now I'm sat here panicking and I'm all by myself and worried if I get sick or need help I won't have it.

This sounds exactly like when I've had anxiety induced vertigo which then triggered a full scale panic attack. All the things you've said, the chest feeling then shivering & cold (I usually suddenly need to wee, too), racing heart then sleep. If you hadn't rung 111 I wouldn't have posted this cos obvs a medical opinion is far far better than mine!

Badgerandfox227 · 07/02/2024 22:49

Sorry you are on your own OP, it’s a bit rubbish he hasn’t stayed with you to be honest. Try and relax and get some sleep, I’m sure it will help you feel better. Maybe try listening to a 10min meditation on an app or YouTube so you can focus on your breathing xxx

Yes I'm a regular for panic attacks and I often get light headed in a panic bit this was different which is why I was so worried. I was diagnosed with BPPV a type of vertigo but this was way more intense this time. I don't usually get hot/cold. Although I do experience random racing heart which I've had checked out loads of times and they say nothing sinister and it's anxiety induced. I guess from having this procedure today I assumed that my symptoms could be related to that and that's why I'm so worried.

AnxiousEveryday · 07/02/2024 22:52

I feel so upset, very fearful and very sore and I'm extremely panicked And now making up all sorts of scenarios related to what could be wrong. I guess I feel silly as they said not to worry and all sounds okay.

Your partner sounds very unsupportive and quite selfish. Hope you feel better soon.

eandz13 · 07/02/2024 22:54

I had this following my LLETZ. The local anaesthetic contains epinephrine (unless you specifically ask for one without) and bloody Nora did it give me anxiety/panic and a racing heart for several hours (although they do tell you your heart will only race for a few seconds, I felt dodgy for the rest of the whole day!).
Obviously keep an eye on your symptoms and if it gets any worse call 111, but yeah, I do recognise the feeling.

Mytopia · 07/02/2024 22:54

If you go to A and E you'll sit and wait about six hours to see a knackered doctor, then go home exhausted and probably with whatever viruses have been coughed over you in the waiting room.

I'd stay at home and ask your dp to keep an eye on you.
