since 2021 I’ve been suffering stage 4 Endometriosis and a Endometrioma Cyst (chocolate cyst) last measured 6 months ago my cyst was sitting at 30CM.

I will include a couple of photos.
im on every medication that you could think of for pain relief.

This all started due to my section when I had my child the surgeon left tissue inside of my that was suppose to me taking away a trainee was also involved in this at this time.
( I didn’t sign anything for a trainee to be involved in my surgery) it was an emergency c section.

Now I am regularly at the doctors see my GP trying to have this sorted I know there is a waiting list but I am absolutely sick and tired of the NHS they are saying they are still working behind from covid patients in the gynaecology department for surgery.
now I’ve been on the waiting list for surgery since 2021 I called last week to the secretary of the surgeon that is doing the surgery and she told me I possible have another 76 WEEKS until surgery is due.

how can I possible deal with my life is turned up side down I no longer can do anything with my kids or have a life it’s completely destroyed me in every way.

You really shouldn’t be causing a nuisance to already overworked and under appreciated healthcare professionals. We are all in the same positions.

SlB09 · 06/02/2024 23:50

Id second the prostap injection as an interim measure that should help your symptoms (potentially immensely).
Your GP can prescribe this if there's one at your surgery that has an interest in women's health or they can email the gynaecologist for advice and guidance in relation to this - this a quick to do.

Consider it whilst your getting surgery sorted for symptomatic relief (fellow Endo sufferer)

What a stupid comment.

puddypud · 06/02/2024 23:56

OP get yourself to a&e if you're in agony. You are in unbearable pain and need to see someone. You haven't seen a gynaecologist since 2022 and your condition has changed dramatically.

negronicake · 07/02/2024 00:06

Go to A&E when it’s bad and you’ll be seen by gynae immediately possibly admitted and treated. This is not your GP’s fault and probably has nothing to do with a trainee - everyone is a trainee until they’re a consultant and most surgeries are completed with them assisting at least it’s completely unavoidable.
If your symptoms are that severe go to A&E in a large hospital which has gynae provision and try to get admitted and treated or at least have your surgery expedited.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 07/02/2024 00:06

I would recommend the prostap injections too. They will stop your periods and put you in a menopausal state. I had severe endometriosis after having my first after being left with a complete septated uterus probably caused by my C-section. The pain I suffered was immense. I would definitely recommend going back to a&e, your outlook has changed massively and you need to be seen much quicker.

Lovelyjubbbly · 07/02/2024 00:07

I’m just a bit confused some people are telling me trainees are aloud to the surgery so there is no point in going to a lawyer and someone people are telling me definitely go?

I will be going to the hospital tomorrow I’ve arranged for my mum to get the kids collected from school.

Regarding the advice about the lawyer I WILL be contacting them tomorrow as I’m sure they deal with these things quite often I will get legal advice from them.

They won't touch endo with bowel involvement - I was sent to a private hospital v quickly but he said they can't do it as it needs a bowel surgeon in theatre and I had to go back to the NHS

op likely needs an endometriosis specialist centre which are all NHS

This isn’t always the case. I had excision surgery done last year for stage 4 endo with bowel involvement. It was done privately and was a joint op by a specialist endo surgeon and a bowel surgeon.

scaredofff · 07/02/2024 00:56

I'm so angry for you

MYSTERIOUSGIRL2024 · 07/02/2024 01:11

Aww you poor hun, endometriosis is a nightmare & I feel your pain. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago along with polyps & fibroids & had 2 coils fitted (I've a double womb!) & it did settle it for a lot of months but this last year it's been a nightmare. My periods are back to back, my endometriosis flares up & with that I'm in pain, days lying on the sofa in agony, migraines & due to my blood loss my iron keeps going to dangerous levels. I'm looking a hysterectomy as I don't want anyone more kiddies but I'm facing another major op first so unfortunately I'll have to put the hysterectomy on hold for the time being. I need my energy levels up but with constant flare ups with the endometriosis I'm struggling with that. So please fight with your Dr should you have to & hoping you'll get somewhere on making life just that little more bearable for yourself. I'd to fight with mine & finally they took me seriously thanks to seeing different Dr's for different opinions. It's exhausting but definitely worth the fight! Good luck 🤞🍀🎗️

You can't get a lawyer because a 'trainee' did your surgery.

You could potentially get a lawyer if the surgeon made a mistake which caused these problems.

That's the part that needs to be evaluated, from what you've said none of us know if there was any medical negligence or if you had a known possible complication. If that needs to be reviewed by a lawyer or specialist team you should absolutely go that route. Just don't use 'a trainee did my surgery' as your cause for complaint.

Trainees are “allowed” to do surgery. (Presumably your surgeon was an Obs/gynae trainee who IS a qualified doctor at least 3-10 years post medical school.
They are trained to do surgery.
They are becoming a consultant surgeon.

This point I must emphasise.
(I am a doctor).

This factor is not a cause for complaint.

Bananabreadandstrawberries · 07/02/2024 01:31

A trainee is not a student, nor some random healthcare assistant that just decided to pick up a scalpel and have a go.

You can’t sue just because a trainee did your emergency surgery at an NHS hospital.

Gymnoob · 07/02/2024 02:02

Fuck this is crazy OP. I am so sorry that this has happened. I would go to a and e. It’s been a year since anyone saw you in person from gynae.

Cantbelieveit101 · 07/02/2024 02:16

My daughter has it also, its a horrible disease.
Have you tried a TENS machine?

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 19:59

@DNLove

i have been told by a number of people to get involved with a solicitor. but the amount of stress this is caused is making me think what if I do this and they damage me more because I sue them or if they get rid of my files to
cover up or something my anxiety is just so bad atm.

finding a day where I could actually get out to see a solicitor is tricky because I can’t walk anymore I can’t stand for any amount of time without needing to sit down I’m only 28
and feel like I don’t have a life

i will get on to the solicitor but it’s just finding a day were I know I will be able to get out very unpredictable this pain

You could try consulting Thompson's - Scots law and they do a free phone consultation. Not sure if links are allowed.

A quick search will give the website.

True, but the mistake would be grounds for complaint and a medical negligence lawyer can advise.

Burynan · 07/02/2024 02:32

Exactly what I was thinking. That surely no surgeon can see those comparison photos and not recognise the difference in your current state. After 14 months of waiting to see a consultant I followed up a conversation with a Specialist Nurse by sending in print outs showing my situation. I was seen two weeks later and referred onto to a different trust with a more specialist consultant. Another 3 months on and a conversation with the secretary who apologised but told me that I would probably not have an appointment for another ten months. A week later I had a call offering a cancelled appointment for two days later for a F2F meeting. Another person advised a visit to A&E. Again a good idea as your current situation will be seen first hand. I appreciate how much you are suffering on a daily basis but please do follow the advice of Catsonskis and include the photographic evidence of your current situation. Good luck

DeeLusional · 07/02/2024 04:17

If, by "kicking up shit" you mean being loud nasty and unpleasant to the receptionists, then yes you are being unreasonable and will find yourself without a GP sooner or later.

BurntoutGP · 07/02/2024 05:01

GP here. I am so sorry for what you have had to go through. While you are waiting you need something to stop your periods which will really help. Your GP is incorrect that you cannot have the progesterone only pill with migraine. If you take this at a double dose there is a high chance it will stop your periods altogether. Other things like prostap are usually only available from gynaecologists.

There will be family planning clinics in your area which are often staffed by excellent doctors who know all about women’s health and are available without referral from your GP- find one and they will be able to help in the meantime while you are waiting for surgery.

Oblomov23 · 07/02/2024 05:15

What about: 3 things:

1)complaining to pals.
2)Phoning secretary to chase appointment.
3)Asking GP to send a letter to consultant and chase / expedite it/ make it urgent. A second GP letter after the first referral can help.

All are completely reasonable and means you are fighting it from every angle.

Agree.

And by pestering your GP constantly you are, I assume, taking appointments from other sick people? Eventually, the GP will get sick of you.

I’m sorry that you’re suffering but lots of people are and are unable to get even a GP appointment. The fact you’ve had multiple for a non-life threatening issue astounds me tbh.

Your issue isn’t life threatening so if you have been waiting a long time for surgery it is because other people are, rightly, prioritised.
