since 2021 I’ve been suffering stage 4 Endometriosis and a Endometrioma Cyst (chocolate cyst) last measured 6 months ago my cyst was sitting at 30CM.

I will include a couple of photos.
im on every medication that you could think of for pain relief.

This all started due to my section when I had my child the surgeon left tissue inside of my that was suppose to me taking away a trainee was also involved in this at this time.
( I didn’t sign anything for a trainee to be involved in my surgery) it was an emergency c section.

Now I am regularly at the doctors see my GP trying to have this sorted I know there is a waiting list but I am absolutely sick and tired of the NHS they are saying they are still working behind from covid patients in the gynaecology department for surgery.
now I’ve been on the waiting list for surgery since 2021 I called last week to the secretary of the surgeon that is doing the surgery and she told me I possible have another 76 WEEKS until surgery is due.

how can I possible deal with my life is turned up side down I no longer can do anything with my kids or have a life it’s completely destroyed me in every way.

If you het nowhere with PALs then going to your local paper is not a bad idea. How about a go fund me appeal with it too for private care? Serious suggestion 💐

Redannie118 · 06/02/2024 22:46

Another stage 4 endo peep here. Has anyone mentioned prostap injections to you? They plunge you straight into medical menopause and stop the bleeding instantly( and as long as you are on them). You have one injection a month and it shrunk my 20cm endometrioma to 6 cms in 6 months while I wait for my op.

I also suggest you join Endometrosis UK to look for a specialist surgeon( NHS').They also have a fantastic online support group and phone line. As a PP said most surgeons wont go near you if you have bowel adhesions, and I found the only one in the North of England who would treat me through their site.Best of luck- I know how horrible it is.

Wanttobeok · 06/02/2024 22:51

Surely if your period is causing bruising on your stomach then you have a tear in your peritoneal cavity?! Have any of the doctors seen you when you have this going on?

You need to contact PALS. The GP can't do anything but this is fucking ridiculous and you need to be seen. The next time you have the period bruising get to A and E

So so sorry you are going through this.

Wanttobeok · 06/02/2024 22:51

And and definitely get a solicitor involved

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 22:54

@CatOnAMushroom I’ve already priced it for the local private hospital in Glasgow the Guided price I was quoted was just over £5000.

I can no longer work due to this I used to be a Nursery teacher so there was no way I could work anymore.

I don’t feel like I could request a go fund me and expect people to put there hard earned money when the Cost of living is so bad.

if I had the funds I would go private immediately

OP posts:
botanics · 06/02/2024 22:55

For people who keep suggesting PALS - this does not exist in Scotland. Several posters have pointed this out.

newlaptop12 · 06/02/2024 22:56

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 21:54

@Moodicum i could get a lawyer yes.
but reading what some people have said about trainee can do surgery.

im pritty certain I didn’t sign anything for a trainee to do my surgery and my partner was there at all times he can remember like it was yesterday.

just don’t want to do it then turns out they are aloud to do it but I will look in to this with the lawyer.

when I went down my for my section there was around 7/8 nursery and surgeons there waiting

Doesn't work like that, you are under the care of your consultant and his or her team. You don't get to say who is in the room, particularly not for an emergency!

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 22:58

@Wanttobeok I’m currently on my period since Friday but as the pictures it’s coming out as blood bruises my Gp is on call tomorrow so wouldn’t get him until Thursday I’ve previously seen another Gp when I had the bruises and she called the gynaecologist and they explained this is extremely rare but it can happen and the Gp asked if I could be seen they said if really need be but there’s nothing more they can recommend apart from mirena coil and my pain relief.

Paw2024 · 06/02/2024 23:00

Two things that help me a tiny bit are
A heated pad
Be you period patches
Both from Amazon

That takes it down maybe from 10/10 to 8/10, I've been on all fours screaming in pain with it and they basically can't do anything until I see a consultant Flowers

Puffalicious · 06/02/2024 23:01

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 22:35

@Puffalicious was your neice waiting a long time to be seen? I’m just been taking the absolute pi*s out of I think

Not really. DS was born, she reported pain at 3 months, had investigations & scans. Put on list at 6 months, had surgery at 9 months, so only on the waiting list for 3 months.

She's Renfrewshire, a 15 minute drive from me in Glasgow.

She was admitted to A&E with pain once & this seemed to escalate things. My DNiece advocates very well for herself: she knows her stuff & politely, but firmly puts her case across. She's a formidable force. Do you think someone advocating for you may help? Take someone with you who will push for definite answers.

BritneyBookClubPresident · 06/02/2024 23:01

OP I feel so angry reading what you are dealing with. It's so sad that the severe underfunding of our NHS is resulting in this. As you've described you're in serve pain and this is affecting your ability to work, be mentally and physically well and parent.

Some really knowledgeable posters here.

What I cannot understand is that surely this is dangerous? If you're having a monthly period but the blood stays inside and causes bruising!? I do not understand how this can be something you need to wait on?

Wanttobeok · 06/02/2024 23:10

If a man's sperm was pooling in his Penis and causing agonising pain, being unable to work or stand it would be a different story! 🤬 it's just awful OP.

Sorry for the PALS error I didn't realise they didn't have that in Scotland.

Bananabreadandstrawberries · 06/02/2024 23:11

Hi @Lovelyjubbbly

I’m sorry you’ve had so much distress.

One point important point:
A Trainee is a medical doctor that has been working (after med school) for at 3-10+ years. They are qualified doctors en route to becoming a consultant. If they have been scheduled to be on call after hours, they will have been considered competent to manage this. Most out-of-hours emergencies are handled by a trainee surgeon, including emergency c-sections.

The consent form for surgery does not distinguish between having a trainee surgeon or a consultant surgeon performing surgery. It may be either or sometimes both.

So a complaint about the trainee being your primary surgeon for an emergency c-section is not valid.

Often the public does not understand what a ‘trainee’ means in context of doctors. They are certainly not students.

Frangipanyoul8r · 06/02/2024 23:14

Set up a go fund me page for private surgery and explain everything you’ve written here. It’s the simplest, least overwhelming option.

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 23:19

@Puffalicious that’s great to know! Because I’m in Renfrewshire too.

Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day speaking to a number of people regarding this if someone in the same area can be seen within 3 months and I’m sitting here since 2021 in absolute agony no wonder I want to kick up shit

😴

reading that someone who stays in the same area as me was seen within 3 months and I’ve been waiting years and over another year to wait no harm or hate to the girl but I just find that very wrong in so many ways.

Just pointing out that no one needed to ask you at any point whether it is OK if a trainee did your surgery, as that is entirely normal. If it is during a routine list (an elective C-section) a consultant would normally be supervising. For an emergency c-section, a consultant may or may not be present.

So the issue of not being asked if a trainee can do your surgery is not a cause for a complaint.

DaisyCat33 · 06/02/2024 23:28

Gosh I'm so sorry you're dealing with this OP. It looks incredibly painful. I had a 10cm cyst removed last year and that caused me pain and bladder/bowel symptoms, I cannot imagine a 30cm one!

Unfortunately I did have to go private for my surgery as the wait was so long. We put it on a credit card. It's terrible that this is what it's come to. Is there any way you could get a loan/credit card/borrow money to do it? I know it's not possible for everyone.

I do hope you get the surgery you need soon.

Boomboom22 · 06/02/2024 23:35

You need to kick up a huge huge fuss. The nhs helps those who make lots of noise.
It seems your gp believes because you are quiet and polite that actually you are ok with being given huge cocktails of drugs that don't even relieve the pain enough to work.
Pals at the hospital. The department at the hospital. Your practice manager at the gp. Your mp and msp. Call and email daily / weekly. How dare they?

Boomboom22 · 06/02/2024 23:37

Also do not be quiet when in pain. If in a and e or the docs do squeal and groan. Honestly if you look too composed they just deny you are suffering.

I think that it's important that you speak to a solicitor before you take any other steps of any kind so that he/she can establish what your position is.

If you raise money from donations and it later becomes clear that you could have obtained a legal remedy, you will feel very frustrated and will also know that people gave their money when it wasn't really necessary for them to do so.

You mention in an earlier post that you are in Renfrewshire - I've looked at the Law Society of Scotland for a suitable firm in your area and I would suggest this one - give them a call tomorrow.

Hi , just wanted to give a hand hold in solidarity. I am in exactly the same boat. Huge cyst and stage 4. I live in Wales and I have been waiting since 2019. I have been told there is a 7 year backlog.

Its inhumane!

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/02/2024 19:52

Could someone explain what PALS is? So I could look in to this I just find it’s a terrible amount of time to be waiting my stomach was no we’re near this bad when it first started to start off with I had a small 3cm cyst just sitting above my C-section star.

now have endometriosis that has spread to my bowels hips lower abdomen
