To get drunk(ish) with my dd

My dd is coming up for 18. She, like myself, likes a few cocktails, g&t, the odd vape… I however am in my 50s and know it’s bad for me, so moderate and reign it in when i need to. And she doesn’t know I vape.

I’d love to take her out after her birthday and really enjoy the evening with her, but is that a bad idea, morally speaking, in the model I’m showing her.
I’m her mother, not her friend. Would it be ‘wrong’, wibu, to have this type of evening with my 18yo dd? Or would it be ok ‘just this once.’

What do you mean just the once? And why can’t you be her friend as well as her mum? She’s 18, not 8.

Definitely do this. Its lovely and shows that you accept the fact your daughter is now a grown up.

I'm early 40s and my mum still likes to pretend I don't drink. It's a pain in the arse. She drinks which makes it weirder.

I go to the pub with my Dad and can have as many drinks as I want as long as mums not there.

At their house I occasionally am offered one glass of wine or a g&t. My DH can have as much as he likes. Odd.

My nan used to meet me on a Saturday afternoon for a walk round the shops, lunch and at least a few glasses of wine each. It was great fun and I love those memories and the laughs and stories shared then.
