Wow. What a shock

OP posts:
couiza · 05/02/2024 21:56

I wonder if Andrew will visit him soon.

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/02/2024 21:57

I think we all got the point now.

MidnightSerenader · 05/02/2024 21:57

WeCouldLooseThis · 05/02/2024 21:53

I think you've worded this well and I agree.

I wish him well but I find it strange that people are so much more concerned about him than other people just because he happened to be born into a royal family. I find the way things like this are reported in the press really ridiculous. It's so over the top and groveling. It's wield. It's essentially 'old man has cancer' it's sad but it's not particularly newsworthy

Yeah, well - you’re pretty much alone on that one!

He’s head of state of quite a few countries around the world.

Anyone not living under a rock is going to have a passing interest in this.

‘It’s sad but it’s not particularly newsworthy to me’

fixed it for you. I’m not a staunch royalist and Charles is no Queen Elizabeth, BUT this is much more than ‘old man has cancer’ to some people! Respect that!

Nanny0gg · 05/02/2024 22:03

lazyarse123 · 05/02/2024 18:14

Why? We're not all sycophantic royalists.

He's still a person.

Royalty doesn't affect who suffers from what...

SilverSideUp · 05/02/2024 22:05

Never fear Randy Andy is always up for duty

EveryOtherNameTaken · 05/02/2024 22:10

@Nanny0gg
Exactly ...

redxlondon · 05/02/2024 22:11

TheBayLady · 05/02/2024 18:05

I think Edward looks ill too. This is so unsettling

Why? Think of how many people have cancer, and their age. I don’t really understand posting here about it.

AbsoluteMoronsEverywhere · 05/02/2024 22:15

Thousands of people have cancer

AbsoluteMoronsEverywhere · 05/02/2024 22:15

Millions even

EdithWeston · 05/02/2024 22:22

reesewithoutaspoon · 05/02/2024 18:51

Surprised they announced it. Unusual for the royal family.
Hope his treatment is successful. Not a royalist but wouldn't wish him ill

Well, they've got to explain why no public engagements, and possible sightings if he has to visit hospital frequently.

Whether/when we get more info might depend on how well he responds to treatment.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 05/02/2024 22:23

Cancer does not discriminate.
I'm sure his diagnosis has come as a shock to them as a family
It would've likely been picked up during a scan of that general area, which implies it is at an early stage.
I feel for them all
I have lost relatives to cancer years ago when treatment options weren't as advanced so I wish him well

IDontHateRainbows · 05/02/2024 22:23

Mama1980 · 05/02/2024 18:30

Such a shock. I wish him well and hope he makes a quick recovery.
Fwiw my mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer she was seen within two weeks, diagnosed in three days and then started treatment immediately.

I'm sure KC won't be on any sort of waiting list

I hope Meghan swallows her pride and comes with Harry and they bring the children with them

Why should she turn up to be bullied relentlessly by the right wing, racist media? And then of course blamed by the public for taking the attention away from Charles. Better Harry just turns up on his own. I hope he gets some quality time with his father and take some steps towards peace without the meddling, malicious palace officials interfering and leaking things to the press as usual.

Nanaof1 · 05/02/2024 22:25

Saladcreamdreams · 05/02/2024 19:07

There's a prediction that Harry will become king.

Charles dies, Kate and William decide to live as quietly as they can to give poorly Kate a calm and stress free life. Harry and Megan move into Buckingham Palace

Oh yeah. And Doria will become the Queen Mother.

Some people have obviously forgotten to cash their reality check. But then, from the Squatties, I expect nothing else but the very bottom of the barrel behavior.

Could you actually be any more obtuse?

It's not worded well at all! The King is an absolute force for good with the Prince's Trust and support for the environment and all of the other charitable activities he is involved with.

People are concerned because he is the King, the Head of the Commonwealth, a figurehead, like it or not. It's not the same as Joe down the road being diagnosed. While Joe might be a personal tragedy for all of those who love him, the whole of the world does not know Joe!!

Of course it's newsworthy!!!

Wanttobeok · 05/02/2024 22:30

From very sad personal experience I have an idea of what kind of cancer it could be.

I really hope it has been caught early and he makes a full recovery. Not because he's king, because he is human. He is a father and a grandfather.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/02/2024 22:23

Nor would anyone who can afford to go private?

How do you know what kind of cancer he has?

He supposedly has prostate cancer. It's all a bit like
OMG!!!! CAMILLA WENT THROUGH THE MENOPAUSE!!111!!

Is it the reading comprehension or the ability to read itself that is giving you trouble?

The palace has said it is NOT prostate cancer. YAAFI!

I hope it's not pancreatic or gall bladder.

My mum in her early 60s only got a few months with the latter. She had to wait ages for her chemo, not that the outcome was ever likely to be any different, sadly.

Still don't begrudge the King access to better treatment. Everyone should have it.

Bracksonsboss · 05/02/2024 22:37

Comedycook · 05/02/2024 18:04

Yes it must be a hard time for him. Such a shame he and his brother are no longer close... especially during times like this.

They are a totally dysfunctional family and any issues they have have been brought on by themselves.

BarbieDangerous · 05/02/2024 22:38

Wow. You wait all your life to be on the throne and then once you’re King, you find out you have Cancer. I’d be pretty pissed about that!

I’m no royalist and don’t care about any of these people but I don’t wish ill health on anyone. He’s probably got the best medical team around him too which is good

EveryOtherNameTaken · 05/02/2024 22:41

After his visit about prostate issues the percentage of men getting checked for theirs went up.

Just like Jade Goody's cervical smear did.

Cancer is classless but both have helped awareness for everyone.

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/02/2024 20:41

Thank you.

Not trying to derail the thread, but it's worrying and I appreciate all good thoughts, even if not expressed on the thread.

I will definitely be remembering your DIL and family in my prayers.

Cancer sucks. I've lost three of my five immediate family members to it, and none even really got a chance to get treated. Family also missed out on being able to say the things that should have been said for years.

I don't care who you are, how rich or famous you are. Cancer sucks.

Cheshiresun · 05/02/2024 22:46

I do wish him well. It's hardly a surprise, though he is 75 and millions of people get cancer of course. No doubt he will get the best care and limos to and from the hospital, not struggle on alone like many people with cancer have to.

They could have kept it private. I wonder if in time it will be announced what cancer it is.
