Make me feel better about my new kitchen...

Yes I've posted before but I've lost my old log in details and can't find the thread.

Had a new kitchen fitted. Look wise I like it, more space too. But the gloss. Oh my god, the gloss. Why did I get it? DH can't understand there are handles for a reason and I spent most of my life getting rid of fingerprints.

Anyone own gloss and grew to like it?

Does it even look nice? Or does it look dated? There's no way DH will let me change it when we spent upwards of 6k a few months ago on it.

Any advice or even positive things to say about the new kitchen? This is before and after.

I have almost identical cabinets. Keep a bottle of white vinegar and kitchen roll to hand - finger prints wipe of very easily with one deft wipe and cabinets glossy again (smell doesn’t linger once dry). Better still, get the culprits to wipe their fingerprints off! :)

I’ve never had any choice of kitchen. My current HA flat has new white, matt cupboards. It’s the nicest kitchen I’ve ever had. The matt finish is a magnet for fingerprints. I have friends and family with all sorts of kitchens - shaker style, country, modern, matt, gloss and all have some down side. Light wood - can get grubby around handles or where you press to open them. Matt, prone to grease and grubbyness too. Gloss - can show fingerprints. Get a micro fibre cloth and use a few times a week and try move your focus to something more important if you can.

There is your answer - ask your DH to do the cleaning. He will magically stop finger marks.
