LightheartedMy friend and I disagree on how you pronounce the word advertisement. One of us says “add-vert-iSS-ment” and the other says “add-ver-tiZe-ment”. We’re both English if this is relevant 😊

Add-vert-ISS-ment

The way they say it in Mary poppins

Irish, I say advert-IZE-ment.

I think Grin

I've heard and probably used both. No preference. I usually just say adverts/ads.

AdverTIZEment - NW England

Not if you'd been in my NW Grammar school, the Head once did an entire assembly on how to pronounce advertisment, ad-vert-IZE-ment was the lowest of the low.

Ad-ver-TIS-ment

😂 to be fair, if your head has seen the quality of my high school it would definitely have reinforced his view.

For me it's adVERTissment which I think is the typical British English pronunciation and the other way is an American English pronunciation that has slipped into some people's language here in the UK (see also normalcy instead of normality or the pronunciation of privacy).
