Phrases to use to people who take the UTTER piss

May I preface this by saying my friend can be so so decent and really cares about us

But sometimes she takes the utter piss

So her child is sick
I have three reports to do
She drops him to my house the night before he is due to go to school the next day as snow was forecast and he needed minding the next day

I was so gobsmacked I said nothing
Like the fool I am

Next day picks him up at 6pm
Well her wanker husband did
No thank you
Just wanted to know what I had fed him etc
She didn't text thanks

So
For the people who can be really lovely
But also really shitty

Help me with polite ways to say this must stop

She thinks my wfh is sending a few emails drinking coffee
Two hour lunch breaks

My wfh could be 6am to 5 some days
Mostly it is chaotic

Anyway from now on it's a firm no
Even when she lands at my door last minute .com

Go away, Ian.

Just say that. Whether that's their name or not.

Repeat.

She finds it hard to listen when I say no

People like this usally do, so you'll just need to be firmer - plenty of good suggestions already made

Always remember that you're right about her seeing you as a mug, but that she can't treat you as one unless you let her

Don’t JADE: justify argue defend or explain.

Just day no. Then shrug shen she starts wheedling. Every time you JADE you enter into a debate which you will lose. You think you can persuade her but you can’t.

Yes, and this

There's no point in trying to "explain" to such people because they'll always have a comeback, so the only option left it to simply say no

Aside from the very obvious piss-takery nature of all of this scenario, one sentence stands out for me

No text after to say thanks

Unbelievable.

My text to her would say 'you're welcome' and, honestly, it would be the last time she ever heard from me.

‘Sorry I’m in the office tomorrow’

every.single.time

if its weekend

’sorry I’ve got plans’

Then don’t read her responses for 24 hours

Just say the job has ramped up - you are on constant video calls and cannot look after a child while working from home. Sometimes you barely get your own lunch hour. You pay for childcare and she can too. She sees you as a soft touch.

Yes yes yes

And thank you all

So so helpful

It doesn't work
I can not do my video calls

I can't just leave her lovely child lying on the sofa all day
And he is great
Never any problem

But my god
Total piss take

And I have said yes so many times

So you agreed to have him the next day but she turned up at night and just left him with you?

Why are you offering to have anyone’s kids while you work.

She doesn’t see your wfh as challenging because you have no issue baby sitting for her.

’i can’t look after him. I am working’

Or did you not agree to have him at all? But just opened the door and took him anyway? Did she leave him on the doorstep? So you had no choice?

I don't offer

She finds out I'm wfh and all of a sudden needs for him to be taken in

All the useful posts thanks
