When did cheap nights become so expensive.

A trip to the cinema last night cost £9 for ticket, £5 for parking, £3 for bag of chocolate sweets and £3.50 for a cup of coffee before hand. So over £20 for a night out at the pictures for one person.

A fish and chip supper for two with a bottle of supermarket wine last saturday cost £23.

AIBU to wonder when what was traditionally a cheap treat has now become an expensive luxury?

Amazon Prime member cinema deal is cheaper than Meerkat movies

But accessing meerkat movie prices can be a lot cheaper than an Amazon prime membership... So only really useful if you pay for prime anyway.

Out of curiosity, is the Amazon prime cinema deal also only useful for two people going to the same film at the same time?

I'm going to cinema tonight. Odeon is £5 tickets and we bring our own snacks. So £10 in total for me and my son. Never pay more than this. Your cinema sounds expensive (and you're daft to buy their food!)

Jaysus, it's nearly £20 each for a cinema ticket round here! Nearest Vue is about an hour away :(

About right for fish n chips but yes they are expensive. They were about £13 for two of us 2-3 years ago but now at least £20.

Wow £5 tickets is amazing

Could you have walked rather than park? Or park a bit further away for free and walk from there?

I would never ever buy sweets from the cinema - they are a rip off. You can take your own.

This would save you a good bit but still get the full cinema experience.

Log into Amazon, click on Prime (one of the choices along the top). Offer comes up for 2 Odeon tx for £10. Think you can use it once a month, btwn Mon and Thurs
