Ours is a on fire at the moment. Usually it's just dog poo and why is the helicopter out, and tourists parking in the pub car park to go for a walk and getting a ticket..

However in the last week or so it has popped off and I'm living for the drama 🤣 it's not even the local community groups,

It's beef between 2 niche (very niche) hobby pages where one is saying x will happen and the other is saying y will happen, then page 1 started posting passive aggressive comments on the page of page 2 and frankly it's incredible.

Any one else got something fun going on, on their Facebook groups?

Bins parking cats pooing in other people's gardens dogs off leads in parks with no recall

Yesyoucant · 08/01/2024 23:50

Wanttobeok · 08/01/2024 19:42

Why is the helicopter up

Dog shit posts

Dogs off leads in parks

Who is this (probably perfectly innocent) man I saw walking g past my house on cctv? He looks dodgy (he doesn't!)

And see also a dodgy van....

They seem to always think the dodgy man is trying to steal dogs....

In mine, people have been complaining about other people posting anonymously. They can't understand why someone might want to remain anonymous for mundane questions like "Can anyone recommend a plumber?". I'm not sure why the complainers really need to know exactly who they are recommending the plumbers etc to. However, they made such a fuss that the group admin felt compelled to organise a vote on whether anonymous posts should be allowed or not. At last count it looks like they will continue to be allowed by some significant margin, so common sense prevails.

Lost items, job wanted, random tradesperson needed, offer at the kebab shop, free stuff being given away. No cat posts lately, or dog poo (but maybe the flooding has temporarily cleaned this up).

Pothole warnings, posts promoting the new local Pothole Facebook group, a pothole Scrooge saying there’s no point reporting potholes as there is no budget to fix them (we just have to learn to live with pot-holed roads, people who’ve ripped their tyres on potholes.

Same folk then complain about temp lights etc when they are re-doing the roads...council can't win!

AllTheChaos · 08/01/2024 23:58

All the ones people have mentioned on here about sheep have made me laugh, sheep all seem to be semi-suicidal from what I know of them!

I lived with one set of my grandparents in the countryside for a few years as a child, and I remember us children used to love playing ‘chicken’ with the electric fences, trying to touch them without getting a shock. Proper ‘make your own entertainment’ stuff 😂

The city is far less exciting for the local FB type stuff. I love the one from where my grandparents were, it’s a hotbed of gossip and slander!

AllTheChaos · 09/01/2024 00:00

Oops, the comment re: electric fences was in response to the post about such fences by @GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin

Mrs GreenGrass we are on the same Billboard (many might not believe you!) It's a shame that he can't / won't get the help he needs.

NoNotMyHair · 09/01/2024 00:05

We also had a woman claim a panther jumped over her back fence a few months ago.

There’s a local ‘artist’ on our local FB billboard, with obvious serious mental health problems, that’s trying to get attention again by walking around the town wearing the bottom of a Yeti costume and using a microphone to shout ‘pay the pied piper’. He keeps getting picked up by the police, taken home, then he does it again a few days later. He creates artwork in his garden and shouts at people for looking at it as they walk past. He put a siren in his back garden which he turns on when he’s having one of these tantrums. He’s refused all offers of professional health support and is very hostile. There’s quite a few people joking about it but it causes others alarm. I feel so sorry for his neighbours.

I'll try again, we live in the same town, hoping he can get some help soon.

FeebasAquarium · 09/01/2024 00:09

Potholes, always potholes
parking fines
Asking for recommendations of Chinese restaurants, twice a week sometimes- why not read the previous thread?
A black swan has appeared on the local (large) pond and people have been taking photos and feeding it (not bread) (or if it is bread not admitting to it)
person a posted how people who can’t control their reactive dogs should muzzle them and her dog is perfectly friendly.
Person b shared the X-ray pics from when her arm had to be pinned because a not under control dog provoked her on a lead dog, causing her dog to wrench her arm and pull her over/along (hence pins)
they're clearly talking about each other whilst in no way referencing each other 👀

Madameprof · 09/01/2024 00:10

M*d road is closed again!

Notthatcatagain · 09/01/2024 00:12

Just trawled FB search and I'm gutted. We don't have any kind of page in our area

Ellmau · 09/01/2024 00:18

Just the usual: potholes, lost cats, and misdelivered parcels.

FrostieBoabby · 09/01/2024 00:25

Ours seems to be folk asking "any jobs going", no further info given so presume that's them ticking a box for their looking for work UC requirements. One chaps profile picture had him flipping the bird whist hanging on to an XL Bully. Someone politely suggested he clean up his FB profile as that might help with his work search and the riot that caused was good viewing.

XenoBitch · 09/01/2024 00:31

Bin collections. It was all changed recently, and it has been utter chaos.

rooftopbird · 09/01/2024 00:32

Lost cat. Again.

Boredmum24 · 09/01/2024 00:40

Bin strike and recommendations for plumber apparently

Ellmau · 09/01/2024 00:46

Also, someone found a lost ferret.

Mariposistaa · 09/01/2024 01:05

tillytoodles1 · 08/01/2024 19:27

I haven't looked for a few days, but a load of dead chickens has fallen out of a delivery van and been left in the road.

@tillytoodles1 ughh that’s disgusting.

ours is dog poo and fireworks. Usually the same person starting it and the same replying.

My village is close to a regional airport with a 24-hour runway (freight at night) and a racetrack. Periodically, someone will move to the area and kick off about the noise. Then there’s a massive pile on.

There’s also a major festival each year that attracts a lot of traffic. Last year the organisers routed the traffic through the village and it was taking seven hours for some people to get back in. I swear people were asking for traffic updates well after the festival ended.

I live not far away, festival time is horrendous! I have friends who live there and they said that there is rarely a year that passes without newbies complaining about the noise and trying to get a petition going to get the festival ended, the racetrack closed and the airport to not run night flights. Apparently one was most put out when she was informed that the festival is older than she is!

LongDarkTeatime · 09/01/2024 01:09

All very tame at the moment on our main one.
Now the alternate political one is something else. We’re in a v v v safe seat and it supports the other party.

Joeslaol00 · 09/01/2024 01:17

Sadly people who have gone missing. Three found dead since New Year . MH is a massive problem! Potholes , snow ,vandalism.

GlitterBall91 · 09/01/2024 01:19

There are road works and someone has moved all the diversion signs so that they’re all pointing the wrong ways

TheMadGardener · 09/01/2024 01:28

Massive local story. The county council is proposing to put parking meters all over town in places which are just 1 hr parking. Everyone is up in arms about proposed meters. Consultation just closed, rumour has it the results were 97% against meters but the council will probably do it anyway.

The other hot topics are people complaining about all the anonymous posts, and a local lost dog (lost dog made the front page of local paper last week along with a fallen tree story, must have been a slow news week).

Peasnbeans · 09/01/2024 01:46

The wind, it's windy, is this your wind chime / birdbox / trampoline in my garden.
Beaten hands down in December by the GREENHOUSE that is yet to be claimed - no one has noticed it missing.
New owner of greenhouse adds to other 'lost' posts (cats, parcels etc) "don't suppose you have you lost a greenhouse too?"
No takers yet.
