Don't be ridiculous.

Ridiculous about what?

Ridiculous about what?

Pretty much most of your post.

Dog attacks and killings have been on the rise after falling for years. Virtually all are attributed to this breed or similar.

I don't think anyone has died from being mauled by a labradoidle or sprolly etc.

Clearly the owners can't tell when these dogs are going to attack and have no control when they do. If they had a jack Russell that wouldn't be too much of an issue.

These dogs are inbred and were bred to fight in the first place, people note the excitement and tail wagging as they attack.

No sensible person brings that into a house as a family pet.

No-one is trying to get rid of dogs completely.

Dog warden estimates at least 30 on the social housing estate next to ours, our estate is a similar size and probably has higher overall dog ownership and there are none.

No-one needs to make up who owns most of these dogs, we can see it with our own eyes.

Most mongrels are poorly bred and unpredictable but sell as they have designer names so you saying XL Bullies is poorly bred is the same so where do we stop mmm as for a 10stone dog losing control there are signs just like a 10lb one signs but non dog owners don’t know dog body language and say it happened out of nowhere. No its never ever is out of the blue.

I agree with all dogs can attack but there is a reason always a reason even a slight one

I know XL bully owners many are rescues and a few have bought them too they are sensible in training, obedience etc. so your tarring all as non sensible for owning large breed dogs.

I own a giant breed which is over 10 stone and I know they are animals first and foremost hence training them daily. I know signs when they are overstimulated, tired etc.

I personally think this is a test to get rid of ALL dogs eventually

Who do you think wants to get rid of all dogs and why?

the government as I said it’s a test I might be far off the mark but I think if they can get rid of the xl bully they’ll do it to other breeds.

why voting, their agenda.

Both cats and orcas take pleasure from torturing and playing with their still living food before they finally kill it.

Humans are grim for breeding weird dogs which wouldn’t and couldn’t exist naturally and then insisting on keeping them in weird domestic relationships.

We should not keep pets, we should not breed frankenstein animals, and we should destroy all dogs which a toddler can’t beat in a fight.

There will always be excuses for committing criminal acts, like blaming football for hooliganism. But vigilante actions are a really stupid idea and people need to be careful about what they share on social media - someone is going to walk free from a trial because all the jurors had been exposed to the details and thus unable to give a fair and unbiased judgement
Poor dog

Valeriemoor · 08/01/2024 23:25

I do think Rottweilers can be scary as well. Two times I’ve met aggressive ones and they could do some serious damage, but I wouldn’t be scared of death if one attacked me just serious injury. It would make sense for any potentially dangerous dog to need a license.

That is so true.
A magistrate I knew years ago referred an animal cruelty case to Crown Court because she wouldn't be able to impose a strict enough sentence on the 'defendents'.

I shan't say what they did, in case it gives sickos ideas, but it haunts me all these years later.

With 'vigilante ' justice, there is always the chance of targeting the wrong house.

A chap my husband worked with was stabbed in the chest one evening answering the door- It was a case of mistaken identity the Police thought.

The chap had just moved into the house a few weeks earlier. {before social media existed}. It's very easy to get all ''Pitchforks and flaming torches'' but if someone gets away with it for reasons you say, social media is a bad thing.

Someone was so say named for killing his XL Bully recently in England- with his name and address in a daily mail comment section.

This thread really shows why we need the ban to go further. Rehoming should not be an option at all. No dog should be so strong.

And do fuck off with the victim blaming. No we don't want to have to read dog body language, control your animal / weapon and don't blame kids for not knowing what to do. Keep it under control as us the law.

Cincinnatus · 08/01/2024 23:39

Reading dog body language is the same as looking both ways when you cross the road.

Myself, like many other dog owners, have had kids approach our dogs. My dog was nearly karate kicked in the face by one kid, and another time the child went to hit her over the head with a toy.
The parents are at fault here... not my dog

Fuck you and your "fantastic news" joy.

On another thread, a vet assistant said they had to PTS a XL bully as it's owner was homeless (so no address to apply for exemption).

Yes let's allow this animal to roam the streets with it's homeless owner. No stresses or triggers that may cause it to attack an innocent member of the public and of course the owner is likely to be a pillar of responsibility.

The dog was most likely the only constant in that person's life.

But yes, lets demonise homeless people and their dogs.

ConcealDontFeelPutonaShow · 09/01/2024 00:08

It's ok to admit that being on the street is not a stable life for an animal.
It's ok to admit that some people living on the street aren't currently making the best choices.

A Beggar in town has a massive XL type.
It is NEVER on a lead, and it is free to harass passersby's dogs.

It got on a bus a few months ago WITHOUT it's wrecked owner and pinned a woman and her little dog to a seat- it's idiot {drunk/stoned} owner stuck out his puny twig arms saying ''Wot's my dog gonna do?'' over and over, challenging the people on the bus.

A fine young man asked that he leave the bus for the safety of the passengers.
the driver didn't leave the bus stop.

The Beggar stumbled off the bus followed reluctantly by his ego booster.

Ime, homeless dogs are usually calm, friendly, and well-behaved. They are socialised 24/7, they have ample stimulation and exercise, and constant companionship and supervision. In the cases where charities ensure medical and nutritional needs are met these dogs have a better life than most pets.

Ditto the young men who drag their unleashed staffies everywhere, they generally have friendly, affable dogs because they drag them everywhere, unleashed from day 1, ensuring the dogs have very good socialisation and stimulation.

Saying that, I don't think my town, or any town I visit regularly, is the norm. I don't have the same experience of numerous out-of-control dogs and being accosted by aggressive dogs every time I leave the house like the majority of MNetters.

There has been a sea change in 'street' people's dogs - in the 1990's it was mainly Lurchers on a string, and they could enter a service user's places without issues, passive slender dogs of a peaceable nature.

Now it is more Bully/Terrier breeds, other clients have been bitten so there is a strict no dogs rule unless a dog is muzzled and leashed now.

A real change due to the types of dogs popular amongst 'street' people.

I think it’s irresponsible for dogs to exist in society which can kill people of any age or size. You might as well allow people to keep panthers on the end of a bit of string.

By all means have a dog, but one a toddler could easily defeat if the dog decided to pick a fight.

Lots of animals can kill people.

Should we kill horses, then? Cows?

Don't go abroad-you'd demand a cull of all their predators.

I don’t want to read the link. I get the gist from posters though and the thought that someone who would do that is wandering the streets is horrifying.
