There's Easter Eggs in the Shops already!!"

Just a small rant but I popped into M&S yesterday (6th Jan) and couldn't believe my eyes - a whole aisle of Easter eggs!!! Goodness me, six days into the New Year, with Christmas barely behind us (the 12th day of Christmas was yesterday) and already the shops are selling Easter products! I kind of get the holiday ads because people need to book and plan for their summer holidays but surely Easter can wait until a few weeks before. Please tell me no one is buying chocolate eggs in January!

You're a week late, we had the annual rush of these threads on new year's day.

Notfeelinghunkydory · 07/01/2024 13:46

Happens every year!

x2boys · 07/01/2024 13:49

Same Every year.

Tinkerbyebye · 07/01/2024 13:51

there have spreads been posts about this

and every year for years Easter eggs come out Boxing Day onwards. It’s nothing new

NewmummyJ · 07/01/2024 13:51

Yummy! Just three months to go!

PinkflowersWhiteBerries · 07/01/2024 13:52

Saw my first in the Coop service station on Christmas Eve. I really fancied one but resisted.

Toottooot · 07/01/2024 13:53

I’ve been eating crème eggs since the 28th. And I’m sure I’ll have an egg or two shortly; chocolate always tastes better when it’s egg shaped.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/01/2024 13:55

Beyond the fact this happens every year and there are always millions of posts about it, the annoying thing about is that three months is long enough for the chocolate to go white if it’s typical Easter egg quality. And even more annoying is that there will be none available in the week before Easter when it would be reasonable to want to buy them.

Falkenburg · 07/01/2024 13:56

One Below has leftover Christmas stuff, Valentines Day stuff, Mothers Day stuff and Easter stuff!

What a load of stuff and nonsense!

GlitteryDirt · 07/01/2024 13:56

Christmas decs up in October
Easter eggs out in December
Halloween in September
Summer clothes & bbqs in shops in February

The earlier the shops get them out the longer we have to buy them, the more we buy.

HardcoreLadyType · 07/01/2024 13:57

I saw some mini eggs in the post office/convenience store before Christmas! I know they’re not supposed to sell them then, but I guess they must be able to buy them earlier than the first official selling date.

No, no in our local store the Xmas begins at the end of September.
It's just pure madness.

TempleOfBloom · 07/01/2024 13:59

Of course there are!

They appear as we make the first turkey sandwich. It’s the law! Where have you been for the last 20 years?

Homesweethome23 · 07/01/2024 14:00

We purchased 2 boxes of crème eggs in December all 12 have gone 😂
Also a packet of orange mini eggs have somehow disappeared 😉

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 07/01/2024 14:06

@cornflower21 the B&M near me had an Xmas decoration aisle out in July last year 😵

Maybe I've lead a sheltered life!😁But I don't remember them quite this early, late Jan/Feb yes but straight after Christmas! (or even before according to some posters)

yum chocolate.

pippapoo62 · 07/01/2024 14:25

Easter eggs fill the gaps on the shelves after Christmas . Also if people buy the eggs in January and February, you can bet that they get eaten before Easter so that person buys more . It's a win win for the stores.

WhatTheHeckyPeck · 07/01/2024 14:28

I bought 2 last week. DD and her DP are visiting next weekend (didn't see them over Christmas due to distance and work schedules), so I've wrapped them up in Christmas paper to give to them.

ManchesterLu · 07/01/2024 14:43

It's nothing new. It's made worse by the fact shops (even smaller shops) have space for 'seasonal' goods, so the second an occasion is over, they need to stock for the next one, or they'll just have empty aisles, which is pointless.

This way, they'll make more money from people like who buy in advance and then eat the Easter eggs when feeling snackish, so have to buy again.

00100001 · 07/01/2024 14:47

I found them on Christmas Eve 🤷‍♀️

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 07/01/2024 14:51

Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs appeared in my local shop the day after Halloween 😂🙈.
