There's Easter Eggs in the Shops already!!"

Just a small rant but I popped into M&S yesterday (6th Jan) and couldn't believe my eyes - a whole aisle of Easter eggs!!! Goodness me, six days into the New Year, with Christmas barely behind us (the 12th day of Christmas was yesterday) and already the shops are selling Easter products! I kind of get the holiday ads because people need to book and plan for their summer holidays but surely Easter can wait until a few weeks before. Please tell me no one is buying chocolate eggs in January!

Easter egg chocolate is the best chocolate. Gets me through the January blues. As soon as Easter is done it’s gone for the year so I’m all for it.

I work in retail. They've been in my store since the 10th of December. Its really nothing new, its a seasonal line and they have to fill it

marshmallowfinder · 07/01/2024 18:05

There are, not there is (there's.) This happens every year. Why so surprised?!😁

FreshWinterMorning · 07/01/2024 18:27

I am saying YABU because we ALWAYS get Easter Eggs right after Christmas. I saw Cadbury's Creme Eggs for sale on 27th December! And as pps have said, there were a raft of threads about this last week.

My DH works for Tesco...I got an Easter egg instead of a selection box in December

Kalevala · 07/01/2024 18:40

I'm more annoyed at Christmas food being cleared while it's still Christmas, and not even New Year yet

Why? Confused

The season was Christmas until this weekend, then there's pancake day, valentines day, and mother's day to go before Easter

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/01/2024 19:16

I saw this in Boxing Day!

To prove a point about how outrageous it was that the warehouse was full of Easter eggs at the end of November (and also because I love Easter eggs)

Icelandic9 · 07/01/2024 19:23

I've had a whole one already 🥴

I didn't see any Valentine's Day cards or anything, which is strange as it's only next month. Only Easter things.
( not that I buy anything or have any interest in Valentine's Day)

There's lots of valentines day stuff out where I live

GHSP · 07/01/2024 19:35

I tell you, I was in Waitrose and heard my mother exclaiming it wasn’t even Epiphany and we were celebrating Christ’s resurrection, but perhaps this is what St John’s Gospel is pointing to. Except it was me that said it, while my teenage children didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

thesnailandthewhale · 07/01/2024 19:37

My first part time job was in a newsagent, 37 years ago. Mini eggs used to come in to stock the week before Christmas, we put them out straight after Christmas. Always been the same.

Glitterybee · 07/01/2024 19:38

They’ve been out here since Christmas eve

Ive had a few caramel eggs already… they fit fine into my calories for my ‘new year new me’ so why not 😂

YourInGoodCompany · 07/01/2024 19:41

If people didn't buy them they wouldn't sell them.
Most food stores have seasonal isles and they are always well in front, just like the clothes stores tend to be a season ahead too.
There will still be outrage on here come Good Friday and no Easter Eggs in sight.

LlynTegid · 07/01/2024 19:47

Double VAT until early March on Easter eggs would be one way to end this, I share your sentiment.

NeelyOHara1 · 07/01/2024 20:50

Selling everything supposedly Seasonal early, means selling it multiple times over obvs, 🤑
