Beside myself - DH in hospital

Posting here for traffic. I'm a first time poster, but been on MN for years.

My DH have not been feeling well for the last couple of days. Had intense abdominal pain for nearly 30 hours. Yesterday he agree to go to A&E (which is a feat on itself). He got seen and left overnight waiting for a CT scan to rule out either appendix or gallstones.

CT scan this morning and his appendix is inflamed, there's also something "they can see" which might signal a small bowel perforation.

DH went in for surgery at 2.20 this PM. Been ringing his ward since 5 PM to see how he's doing, but apparently he is still in recovery.

My question, I suppose is: does it take that long to be in recovery? Every time I ring his ward no one can tell me anything. I'm making myself sick with worry, I can't eat, I can't move. All I want to know is if he's okay.

I feel very stupid posting this, I really do, but I don't what else to do.

How is your DH today OP?

ThomasTheTwerkEngine · 07/01/2024 19:43

Good evening everyone, DH is now home with me. Took a lot of time to get him back from the anesthetic and his oxygen was a little bit low. All good now. He is home and resting, has to take antibiotics as his appendix was starting to open and there was a bit of puss they needed removed. Surgery took longer than anticipated as well as recovery, but thankfully no bowel perforation.

I'm beyond relieved he is okay, and my apologies for being so alarmed, as I posted earlier, surgeries aren't common for us so getting to understand what's normal was difficult, thankfully you were all so reassuring and wonderful. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart ❤️

On a funny note, my husband found this thread this morning while he was in the ward (the email account I use for this links to his tablet) and he has not stopped laughing at my username 😆

Thank you all again! ❤️

Go @ThomasTheTwerkEngine I'm glad. I really am happy to hear this update. Laughter is a great medicine.

Great news, Twerk (and Mr Twerk)😂

Anyone who has been in your position knows how utterly terrifying it is. There’s no need to apologise.

Wonderful update to read x
Speedy recovery to Mr Twerk, and Mrs Twerk - never apologise for being a loving and caring person - your feelings are important too xxx

Great news!

Little did I know, only a few hours after I commented on your thread that I'd be in a similar position with my DH being taken in an ambulance to hospital. He's okay but being kept in for observation and a some further tests. It's a blooming worry isn't it.

Themountainwithsnowonit · 08/01/2024 00:17

Happy twerking!

DriftingDora · 08/01/2024 09:10

Such good news for you both. 😄

AdoraBell · 08/01/2024 14:19

Fabulous news 👍 and you do not need to apologise for being alarmed by this situation.

he has not stopped laughing at my username 😆

He must be feeling better. When ds had his out, I don't think he could laugh without wincing and begging us not to make him laugh for nearly a week.

Glad all is well.
