Shit, I’ve just bought men’s shoes

Bought them online from a well-known department store with a very nice discount in the January sale. They’re Kurt Geiger, a brand I like, and I wanted them for work- always looking for a smart flat.

They arrived today and I tried them on. A little roomy but not bad.

Jusy tidying away and spotted they’re men’s shoes!
No wonder they were cheap- can’t imagine much demand for men’s size 6.

Pic is of the ad on the website. I obviously didn’t look too closely 👀

So keep (YANBU) or return (YABU)?

your 5ft 11 and only have size 6 feet.

I'm much smaller and have size 7.5

Keep them they look nice.

BussInPoots · 05/01/2024 23:34

I’m going to sound really weird now, but I honestly dont think I realised there were separate men’s/women’s shoes until now 🙈!!)

I’ve always tended to wear DM’s or running shoes…. And just bought the colour / design I like.

OMG, send them straight back before you end up growing a cock!

Behave!

OP.

If you like them, keep them.
If they're comfy, keep them.
Fuck it, keep them.

worraliberty · 05/01/2024 23:48

There is nothing remotely manly about those shoes!

It's what all the hipster men in London seem to bear wearing, with those awful ankle grazer trousers.

As my old dad would say, "If his ankle was a slice of ham, he still couldn't make a sandwich!" 🤣🤣

Now I know where to look for sale bargains. Grin

€135 down to €35!

Most women’s shoes are made with a men’s last, anyway.

FoodWineAndSun · 05/01/2024 23:52

I'm 5ft 10 with size 9 feet... I pretty much live in male shoes 😁.

Shoes are shoes

WetBandits · 05/01/2024 23:58

Keep them!

I actually think they look very UN-manly, if my DP bought those I’d be puzzled as to why he had chosen such feminine shoes.

If they fit and your like them - wear them! As a pp said, they aren’t men’s shoes in that case, they’re your shoes.

I have got children’s shoes that I wear as I’m size 5.

I wear men’s socks though as they’re better.

LittleGreenDragons · 06/01/2024 00:32

If you want to get really cross then go into a supermarket and try on the same size trainers in both the womens and mens sections. The mens are wider with less hurty toe section. Absolute bliss to wear. And cheaper. Same size though 🙄

I also buy mens tops/jackets as they are longer in the body even if the arm length or chest size is the same as womens.

Perihelion · 06/01/2024 00:39

With size 3.5 feet I'm so jealous that you can wear men's footwear.
I love chunky black boots and am often disappointed that ones I like start at a size 6

clary · 06/01/2024 00:40

yeh keep them OP.

DD (who is actually really petite and slim) bought some men's Nike shorts this summer bc they actually had a decent leg length (she didn;t want to wear shorts cut up her bum and I don't blame her).

Meanwhile I, much heftier, searching for plain navy joggers to wear for athletics officiating, found some great ones in the Marks men's section - decent high waist, good leg length, drawstring that works and OMG HOW BIG are the pockets? excellent.

ChannelyourinnerElsa · 06/01/2024 00:43

I actually think they do look like men’s shoes, BUT i don’t see why you shouldn’t keep them if you like them and they fit you!

wear what you like!

OMG, send them straight back before you end up growing a cock!

🤭 This made me laugh so loud!

OP I am short with tiny feet, I wear kids shoes most days! Nobody's ever mistaken me for a kid. So I'd say the same applies if you like the shoes wear them, they won't turn you into a man and nobody will bat an eyelid. They look comfy and sound like a bargain! Plus now you know you can get amazing deals if you widen your shoe searches to include guys shoes. Win win!

LauderSyme · 06/01/2024 00:47

Keep them definitely, super comfy shoes are not that easy to come by.

I'm tall and think I'm going to look in the men's sections more often based on this thread. I've certainly read that mens clothes and shoes are generally better value for money than women's.

Clarinet1 · 06/01/2024 02:18

The style doesn’t look different to shoes I’ve seen on many women, including me!

JMSA · 06/01/2024 02:43

Definitely keep! Smile

ProfYaffle · 06/01/2024 05:51

I wear mens walking boots and jackets. Womens boots are too narrow for my feet and the jackets have an enraging lack of pockets. Apparently only men carry maps and want to protect their phones from the rain, women are just grateful for tiny hand warming pockets Hmm

😂

Chilicabbage · 06/01/2024 05:56

I wear men's shoes often.
There are companies which have same w/m designes BUT men's are simply just bit wider. My wide flat fuck feet fit perfectly.
I literally stood in shop holdong 2 pairs of identically looking shoes one men, one for women🤷 Of course I got men's ones

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/01/2024 06:39

I'm a size 9 foot. Most of my shoes are men's.

LonelynSad · 06/01/2024 06:42

🤣🤣🤣🤣 My 80yr old mother has some absolutely identical to those! Honestly it's uncanny

Poppysmom22 · 06/01/2024 06:48

Just wear them your feet won’t know any different

Newestname002 · 06/01/2024 07:56

They look great and I'd certainly wear them. You got a great pair of good looking, comfortable, smart shoes for a great price - what's not to love? I often wear men's casual clothes (eg leisure wear, including shorts and jogging bottoms which are cheaper and better made, better priced and roomier than women's). Great bargain! 🌹
