I’ve just read the second book & I'm thinking for Dani Moseley (from dreaming whilst black) for Donna as she has that slight cynical edge.
Mark Benton (from Shakespeare & Hathaway) as Chris maybe?

Apparently although Joyce isn't confirmed they're in talks with the most obvious candidate, the person whose name people always shout in the street at Osman, just like they did Helen Mirren for Elizabeth - which implies Penelope Wilton to me.

Piers Brosnan for Ron is an off the wall choice though. I haven't seen anyone suggest him.

I heard Richard Osman confirm the casting on his (brilliant) Entertainment podcast and shouted 'YES!' really loudly when he said Helen Mirren. Clearly I am far too invested in this 😳. Still keeping everything crossed for Alison Steadman/Joyce.

Wow. Absolutely amazing.

I am disappointed with the casting. I've been saying since book 1 that Helen Mirren was too obvious a choice. I don't like Ben Kingsley, and Pierce Brosnan is not Ron, for me. I'll watch the film and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, because I love the books, but I think these choices range from unadventurous to wrong. Let's hope they redeem themselves with Joyce, Donna, Bogdan, etc.

Pierce brosnon could be a great Stephen but can't see him as Ron

Niger Havers, Anthony Head or Ralph Fiennes for Stephen. Actually Pierce could have been a Stephen possibly. I don't see him as Ron.

Lydia West would be perfect for Donna - great choice!
