WTF dog shit

Just seen this at a well known local beauty spot. National Trust place in a well healed part of the South East.

AIBU to ask WTF are these people thinking?

WTF dog shit
OP posts:

Disgusting. People leave bags on the ground by a tree outside our house. Who do they think is going to pick it up? The shit fairy?

I’ve started leaving a large note on the tree along the lines of don’t be such a lazy f**cker, pick up your dog’s 💩 bag and there have been no bags recently.

Branleuse · 01/01/2024 14:10

Well it's 2 bank holiday weekends in a row, and bin collections will be affected. I expect it will be emptied in the next few days.

NoKateMoss · 01/01/2024 14:11

It's not great but the bin needs emptied.

NoKateMoss · 01/01/2024 14:12

Is that a bin?

RoseAndRose · 01/01/2024 14:13

It's perfectly possible that the bin is full, and that they think leaving it to be picked up right by where they'll be coming to empty it at some point is better than finding a regular bin

cryinglaughing · 01/01/2024 14:14

Well at least they are near the bin, not hung in trees 🤢

Summerbay23 · 01/01/2024 14:14

Is it a bin? It’s not great but I also think the bin should be emptied (or a bigger one provided) particularly if national trust are charging for parking etc.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 01/01/2024 14:14

Who is supposed to empty the bin? Why aren't you cross with them?

Look how services can be reduced, people turn on each other instead of blaming the people responsible for the reduction of services?

Complain to the council/national trust/whoever is responsible for emptying the bins.

ACynicalDad · 01/01/2024 14:14

Rather dumped by the bin than left hanging on a tree somewhere random.

BlusteryLake · 01/01/2024 14:15

They were thinking the same as everyone else who leaves rubbish outside a bin - that it isn't their fault the bin is full and it therefore doesn't count as littering, because they value their own convenience over other people's nice environment.

OnTheRopes · 01/01/2024 14:16

They have removed the bins from a lot of places I walk my dog due to precisely this.

if any bin is full take your litter/dog poo home!

Exactly.

Aria20 · 01/01/2024 14:20

We went for a walk to a similar place yesterday also south east and all the dog bins were over flowing and bags next to it. It's not a route where you usually see poo bags dumped either so as pp said it's obviously the Xmas bank holidays have delayed the collection. I'm sure they will be collected later this week and at least by leaving them next to the bin they will most likely be taken too as opposed to dumping them randomly or hanging off a tree.

I'd rather see them bagged and placed next to the bin than people not pick the poo up at all and people walk in it!!!

Perhaps because people should have a sense of responsibility and decency and it's their dog poo. Seriously?

margotrose · 01/01/2024 14:23

The council should have sorted it out so that the bins were emptied over the holidays.

ManateeFair · 01/01/2024 14:25

The bin is obviously full, so they’ve left the bags where they will be collected when it’s emptied.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/01/2024 14:26

There's always two sides to this:

  1. What they're thinking is they've spent £5-£10 on parking for facilities so they don't have to carry crap around with them 🤷‍♀️ (or have to walk a mile back to the car to drop the shit back there before resuming their walk)

Or

  1. People who think carrying shit around on a walk or back to the car is reasonable because they own a dog

I always carry my rubbish back to the car but I have masses of sympathy for position 1 as they quite understandably NEED a dog poo bin so they don't have to carry shit on a 5 mile walk

Peoplemakemedespair · 01/01/2024 14:29

ManateeFair · 01/01/2024 14:25

This. I know everyone’s responsible for their own dogs shit, but at least make it a little easier for dog owners. They’ve bagged it and carried it to the bin with the intention of binning it. I wouldn’t be walking miles home carrying shit, or putting bags of shit in the car because the council don’t want to empty the bins

Branleuse · 01/01/2024 14:29

Really? You'd think they'd see that as indication that more bins were needed, not fewer.

I think if the local council don't put poo bins, then more people will just leave the dog poo like in the old days.

Catza · 01/01/2024 14:30

Put more poo bins and empty them regularly. Problem solved.

Grimchmas · 01/01/2024 14:31

Is it definitely a bin? Kinda looks like it might be an electricity cabinet which just happens to have a please pick up after your dog sign on it.

Doesn't make a difference though, this is horribly unacceptable behaviour. If the wind gets up those are going to blow everywhere. People should take it home if there is no bin, it is that simple. I'm a dog owner and I manage it.

MagentaRocks · 01/01/2024 14:31

We went to the beach the other day. The bin was full so we double bagged the dog poo and took it home. With the weather so windy and awful loads of bags left outside the bin will blow away.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 01/01/2024 14:32

This happened on a beach walk we did last week. All poo bins full and everyone had dumped their dog poo bags beside the bins. We have a small rucksack we take with us when walking the dog. It has a mesh pocket on the outside. We stuck the bag in there rather than dump it outside the bin, then found a not-full bin about 2 miles along the beach and put it in there. It's not difficult.

OnTheRopes · 01/01/2024 14:40

Services are being cut left right and centre

Bins are a convenience not a right, I hate seeing bins overflowing and littler blowing everywhere.

eventually there will be no dog poo bins because of the behaviour in the picture.

Purplebunnie · 01/01/2024 15:11

I'm not a dog owner, but I thought the dog poo bins were red and not green?
