Just seen this at a well known local beauty spot. National Trust place in a well healed part of the South East.

AIBU to ask WTF are these people thinking?

@Purplebunnie not always. I've seen black and green ones too :)

They have removed the bins from a lot of places I walk my dog due to precisely this.

if any bin is full take your litter/dog poo home!

This!

This. I know everyone’s responsible for their own dogs shit, but at least make it a little easier for dog owners. They’ve bagged it and carried it to the bin with the intention of binning it. I wouldn’t be walking miles home carrying shit, or putting bags of shit in the car because the council don’t want to empty the bins

You are one of the people who make me despair.

Get a zipped bag to carry the poo with you so you don't have to smell it.

Take it home if there is no dog poo bin empty enough to take it.

Yes dealing with shit is not nice - its why I choose not to have a dog - but if you choose to have a dog, part of the deal is that removing your dog's shit is your responsibility.

RoseAndRose · 01/01/2024 15:25

The real enemy here are those who do not provide big enough bins or do not empty them frequently enough

NoKateMoss · 01/01/2024 15:29

OnTheRopes · 01/01/2024 14:40

Services are being cut left right and centre

Bins are a convenience not a right, I hate seeing bins overflowing and littler blowing everywhere.

eventually there will be no dog poo bins because of the behaviour in the picture.

It's not a council bin though, it's National Trust. People pay a fortune at NT sites - adequate bins should be provided.

Snowflakecookie1989 · 01/01/2024 15:29

People, thankfully, are at least picking up their dog poo. Your anger should be directed at the trust not emptying the bins enough or putting more bins in the park.

Coincidentally · 01/01/2024 15:37

Charge dog owners a licence fee that covers the cost of bins and dog wardens

OnTheRopes · 01/01/2024 15:46

I’m walking on national trust land now. Carrying my dog shit as the closest bins were removed due to people festooning full bins with their dog’s bagged shit.

there are free car parks, paid parking and plenty of people can walk here from their homes. If people keep doing it there will be less bins, not more

pigsDOfly · 01/01/2024 15:49

So many posters on here blaming the people responsible for emptying the bins for the disgusting mess on and around that bin.

How about the dog owners taking responsibility for the disposal of their dogs' waste and taking it home and putting it in their own rubbish bins instead of dumping it on and by a bin that is clearly overflowing already and thereby creating a health hazard and eyesore.

Where I frequently walk my dog there are no bins and yet somehow the vast majority of people, who also walk their dogs there, seem to be able to manage, like me, to carry their dogs' waste bags home and put them in their own bins.

It really isn't that difficult.

It you don't want to be responsible for disposing of your dog's waste don't get a dog.

Disgusting. People leave bags on the ground by a tree outside our house. Who do they think is going to pick it up? The shit fairy?

I’ve started leaving a large note on the tree along the lines of don’t be such a lazy f**cker, pick up your dog’s 💩 bag and there have been no bags recently.

I used to live in Bristol and there was a council generated notice satirical referencing the 'dog poo fairy'. It was a hard hitting message for people who might have engaged.

Well at least they are near the bin, not hung in trees 🤢

This 👆

I am a dog owner, but it drives me nuts seeing the amount of bags tied to fences / trees / etc.

Also, I would point out how few bins there are at National Trust properties. Quite a few places near me don't have any bins.

Completely agree with this.

Whether there is a bin or not. Whether the bin is full or not. None of these things change the fact that it is dog owner's responsibility to ensure their dog's waste is properly disposed of.

My young kids try to blame others for their own behaviour. You should really have grown out of that mentality by adulthood.

Is it a bin? It’s not great but I also think the bin should be emptied (or a bigger one provided) particularly if national trust are charging for parking etc”

This. National Trust sites aren’t exactly cheap. Pretty sure it can afford to pay someone to clear the bins on busy public holidays.

newoldfluff · 01/01/2024 15:55

It's the ones who bag and sling it in a tree that I worry about

Houseplantmad · 01/01/2024 16:09

It is laziness - when we visited Japan there are NO public bins for any rubbish at all. People know it’s their responsibility to dispose of it at home. It’s very much the culture here that it should be someone else’s problem to sort.
