It’s overcast where we are, little bit of sun trying to get through, tired but don’t want to sit in all day with Dd climbing the walls. Pre Dd, I’d probably lie on the sofa watching films 😂
Nowhere is really open, might take the dog somewhere in the car to somewhere different, lots of hills, grass etc

What are you doing?

Been for a run this morning because it is a new year and I'm going to be super fit and healthy.

Now drinking a Bailey's hot chocolate with whipped cream because its still the holidays 🙃

DH and DD are painting the hallway. I want to put the decs away but the family are blocking the loft with all their painting paraphernalia so I can't get to the boxes.

I'm basically faffing about today and loving it

Where is everyone from that is eating steak pie ?

All those cleaning (using the first day of the year on housework) where are you from ?

Where I am from its s teak pie tradition and making sure housework done last year lol not taking it into the new year.

It was beautiful and quiet (until DH, four DC, the dog and I showed up🤣). Dry but cold, perfect for a forest walk. Hardly slept last night with neighbours having their party bringing in the new year, but just got on with the day. Relaxing on the sofas now!! Can't wait to eat steak pie later on.

Took the dog out for a sniffy walk, came back and cleaned the bathroom, loo, living room and kitchen, put on more laundry after stripping the beds. Cooking my favourite chicken soup in the slow cooker and looking forward to doing nothing after I’ve lit the wood burner.
Dishwasher is on, I have a big mug of tea and I’m good 😊. I fancy a bar of chocolate too but none in the house!

Housework was done on Hogmanay. I don't do that sort of thing on New Year's Day. Have to enjoy time outdoors first thing to burn off all children's excess energy.

Scotland.

I’m hungover and struggling, but DH feels worse and can’t get out of bed. Thankfully DS is loving watching films, snacking and chilling out. We’re doing Dry Jan so why not kick things off with a horrendous hangover!

I’ll have a bath later and DS can have one as well. I could do with pottering around but thankfully the house isn’t in bad shape. We got everything in for a big cooked breakfast but didn’t manage it, so I think we’ll have it for dinner instead. Supermarket delivery is arriving later too so plenty of options, and we booked tomorrow off work which I’m really glad about!

We’re tired after getting caught up in the Eurostar chaos and returning a day late from holiday. All full of cold and a bit hungover. Holiday laundry and eating cheese is the order of the day.

Been for a five mile walk with some friends and the dogs (along with the rest of the world by the look of the walking trails)

Stopped off for a quick drink and chat at the pub, now home and intend to relax for the rest of the day!

It's my birthday today and so 6 of us are going out for dinner this evening - so today has been very lazy and chilled whilst spending time with my sons while they are here for the holidays

It’s an unwritten rule that it’s steak pie day in Scotland so have a pot of home made soup on the go and preparing dinner for around4pm.

I have just tided away the Xmas decorations, now currently have the cat sat on my lap. DDC are chilling with their tablets after staying up last night. No other plans apart from TV and deciding what to have for dinner. Making the most of being lazy until school starts again.

We've ended up doing a massive spring clean of the sitting room because of taking the tree down.

Now lunch, dog walk and then I want to iron all my clothes for going back to work tomorrow!

Plus other assorted bits of cleaning and clearing.

Dp being doing DIY, I’ve done some work on the laptop although I’m not in until Wednesday. Watching jaws at the moment then making a full English about 3pm. Lazy day, although the house could do with a really good clean!

Just had full English and about to go for a walk.

No housework today, not for superstitious reasons, I just like an excuse not to do it
Crispy duck (precooked and frozen from lidl) for dinner with duchess potatoes and a ring of prawns for starters if they defrost.

Growing up we always had gammon pie on New Year's Day, with the year made out of pastry on the crust. I guess it was taking the Scottish tradition of steak pie (dad is Scottish) but adjusting it because we always had gammon leftovers to use up. I'm far too lazy to make a pie though, and never particularly liked it. Would probably like steak pie better but I'm not made of money - beef is far too expensive!

We’re on our last full day away without our children. This morning we went for a long walk and then sat and had coffee over looking the baltic sea.

My husbands having a nap (he missed his usual 9:30 bedtime yesterday), I started heating the hot tub at 11, so that will be ready to get in soon, then we’ll sauna and then out for dinner.

This sounds like a perfect day!

Cooked a stew in the slow cooker , cleaned the house from the kids partying last night while they sleep … getting work stuff ready and feeling a bit sad it’s all over for another year.

I'm drinking tea and more tea. I've pottered around taking Christmas cards down. Cleared out the pantry and fridge (very satisfying) and made a lovely pan of soup.

It's been a beautiful sunny day here on the NE coast of England. Sun is starting to dip towards the horizon now (sunset is 3.48) and I can feel the temp dropping so I'm going to go and prepare the stove for lighting.

We didn’t get in until after 4 this morning so haven’t done much at all except eat breakfast. I’ve only just got dressed.

It was supposed to be roast chicken for dinner but I forgot to get it out of the freezer until noon so we might be having a tinned steak pie instead.

Steak pie sounds lush.

Cottage pie here with leeks and chesese topping, only because we are going away this week and I bought a bag of maris piper that I need to use up.

No housework here (don't do much anyway as it stays clean enough for me in between my cleaner).

After a shower at 10am I've not done a lot other than lie on the sofa and graze.

I keep going to do something and stopping myself as I'm back at work tomorrow so have decided I'm doing nothing today!
