When do school's go back, generally

Ours is the 8th

Tomorrow for ds2! He's not very happy about it. He also broke up on the 15th.

Two of mine are back tomorrow, other has an inset day so back on the 3rd. They broke up on the 15th. It seems very early to be back!

8th or 3rd depending on the school, same council area. My dc is at university now which is beginning of February! (Technically there's exams prior but doesn't have any)

For those going back 2/3 do you have a two week half term in October?

No. School finished for Christmas on 15th.

Yes around here almost all schools have 2 weeks in October although they also only tend to get 5 weeks in the summer.

there’s always parents here in Scotland moaning about about the school holidays starting so late, but I’m really glad I don’t have to get my kids back into school mode by the 2nd of Jan! I also really like having some child free time in the week running up to Christmas too for last minute shopping etc.

Broke up on 22nd back on the 8th. My Dd is a teacher in a neighbouring council, they finished on the 20th and back on the 4th.

Mine finished on 22nd and back Thurs 4th.

Nursery opens again tomorrow for holiday club (so back to work tomorrow) and preschool funded children are back on 8th.

We live in Germany but usually go back to the UK to see family. The extra week tends to be quite nice.
We'll go at Easter this year, which is also a 3 week break.

Its always 2 weeks at Christmas.
We used to finish the week before christmas and go back on the 2nd.

But for the last few years we have taught up to the Friday before Christmas eve. This year 22nd.ast year 23rd!

So we have inset on the 8th and go back the 9th.

My dc are grown and go back to work tomorrow, as does dh, so I'm going to relish the time to myself.

Was coming on to say same as also in cornwall. As our two are only part time at nursery they did 19th and will do 4th so only 1 day the weeks either side of Christmas; it’s made the holidays seem longer!

Usually about 2 weeks after they broke up, state schools. Possibly extra week off private. Yours is about the 4th similar thread and in none of them is the date the children broke up stated so it's hard to judge if the holiday length in your case is excessive.

Nice to have this week off! Both my boys have birthdays this week

3rd here too. They broke up on the 20th so it was a bit of a short holiday

A few schools in same country have an inset day tomorrow, but we had one in September, two in October and two more in July.

Broke up on 19th and teachers and pupils are all back on the 4th.
