To be scared that I’m still marked by the crows?

A couple of years ago I walked the dog on a local field. I know nothing about birds but I was later told it was their breeding season.

Anyway we must have got too close to their nests as they suddenly started flying around irrationally, making a hell of a racket screaming etc and then started dive bombing the dog. The dog thought this was fun so started chasing the crows. All hell broke loose basically and we were suddenly surrounded by crows going mental. We made a quick exit!!

I left it a few days then took the dog back on the field but after speaking to locals about the crows I stayed away from the back of the field (where they’re breeding) and kept dog in lead. As soon as we stepped on the field the noise started up again and the crows appeared and started dive bombing again! There was someone else on the field with a dog who the crows were totally ignoring!

We left and after a bit of research I found that crows remember faces and don’t forgive easily 😬 so we didn’t go back on.

A whole year later we went back on assuming the old crows won’t be there anymore but we were on there 5 minutes before it all started again. These birds are not bothering anyone else on the field, just me!!

Anyway my neighbour has suggested we go for a walk in the field tomorrow morning but I’m shit scared of the birds. Will they still go for me if I don’t have the dog?! Will they ever move on from the incident 2 years ago or am I banned from the field for life?!

A crow arrived in our garden for the first time yesterday, I had to tell my cats that if they keep chattering at it from the window I cannot be responsible for the consequences when they venture out to the garden. They took no notice so I fully anticipate that crow wars have been declared and I'm starting the peace offering.

We have masses of crows where I live as there are huge playing fields nearby that they seem to live on. They do fly about en masse though especially near the end of the day and my cats are terrified of them. Last winter we put out those half coconut shells for the little birds to feed off and the bastards keep taking the whole thing away! I'm now keeping an extra eye out although maybe they like us because of the coconuts - which we stopped!🤔

That is an amazing dress! The lace bits don’t look very caw-mfortable though. But like being attacked by crows.

I fear they’ve killed her 😢

Somatosensational · 09/01/2024 10:53

Hello @IntriguingFactJumble. It’s certainly CROWded here but there are small subsections to have a beak at

Whydowomendothistothemselves · 09/01/2024 16:31

All new comers must bring high quality cheese, some shiny treasure in case we need to CROWd fund to get the OP released from CRaptivity, and a CROWbar in case we need to bust her out of the joint.

Somatosensational · 09/01/2024 17:28

CROWbars are also very good for opening a stuck Daw

IntriguingFactJumble · 09/01/2024 17:58

I present my dog and 2 of his Teasing Trio of Crowfolk. They follow him on walks and sometimes visit the house next door to gaze down at him. This thread inspired me to leave votive snackage - I begin tomorrow.

"My" crows taught themselves how to take the lid off the thing that holds the fatballs. They then pick them out and carry off an entire fatball per crow

@Emotionalsupportviper greedy bastards 😁I feel sorry for the little birds.

magnitude100 · 09/01/2024 20:11

I have two crows that I feed daily. Used to feed their injured mum but she has now sadly disappeared. They know when I finish work and fly in to wait for me. Or I suspect they see my car. My dh works from home so can see when they arrive and his first words are always Your crows are waiting for you..

If I throw them food like a meatball, they will now catch it in the air. Like little football player running back, forward and sideways and then they catch it. I always tell them well done! 😂 I quite like them actually. A bit stressful though.
