Why are people setting off just one lone firework at a time?

Is it just my close or has it become the norm to just let off one stray MASSIVE firework. Then nothing for 30 mins. Repeat.

COL crisis?

It’s upsetting my dog but we can spoil him so not a huge deal. Feel this way of doing it just constantly causes shock (to myself included)

Maybe they have other smaller on ground fireworks that you can’t see or hear? Maybe they are having a meal and setting one firework off between each course? Maybe ts a way of spreading them out over the evening, like a countdown?

JaniceBattersby · 31/12/2023 21:27

I think you live in my street OP 😅

NuffSaidSam · 31/12/2023 21:27

I've always assumed it was either incompetence or they're in a chaotic/disorganised environment.

newoldfluff · 31/12/2023 21:29

Is it a wind test?

Sparklesocks · 31/12/2023 21:29

Fireworks are expensive and they have to make them last til midnight 😄

newoldfluff · 31/12/2023 21:33

Are you sure it's the same people?

SouthEastCoast · 31/12/2023 21:33

Because they don’t have many and they want to make them last. Because they enjoy them and it makes the night special that way.

BIWO · 31/12/2023 21:34

I do despair around here - random set of fireworks set off at 8pm for about 5 mins setting off all the local dogs - so do sympathise OP

Soubriquet · 31/12/2023 21:35

Cos it takes a few mins to set up the next lot. When my dh does them, it can take 5-10 mins between each one purely because of the way they are set up and then being safe himself

squigglygiggly · 31/12/2023 21:36

I agree OP. It's so lame. Bang.....................................bang.................................................................bang

Whinge · 31/12/2023 21:38

Are you my neighbour?

It's absolutely pissing it down here; torrential rain, and still people are letting them off every 45minutes - 1 hour. I just don't understand it. Confused

newoldfluff · 31/12/2023 21:42

Maybe they've decided to set one off for the kids and then not bother with the rest?

WingsofRain · 31/12/2023 21:44

Because they want to cause the maximum possible distress to everyone in the area?

driftingdownintomiami · 31/12/2023 21:48

They've just started here. Why do people do it in their back gardens, knowing it's pissing off their neighbours with pets/babies - especially in the pouring rain. I just don't get it at all!

Tarkan · 31/12/2023 21:51

That's been happening here for over 3 hours now. My 15yo is autistic and was outside with one of our dogs after there had been a long break, then two incredibly loud ones went off close together which has freaked out both the dog and my DC. Sad

Sprinkles211 · 31/12/2023 21:56

Near me one lone firework is the gangs letting ppl know the drugs are in lol

AmyDudley · 31/12/2023 21:58

Because they are knobbers.

Fireworks started here at about 6.oo PM and have been going off randomly every since. Have they never heard of the concept of midnight being the crossover into NY ?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 31/12/2023 21:59

Small dick energy.

Devilsmommy · 31/12/2023 22:17

WingsofRain · 31/12/2023 21:44

Yep this, also just being nobs imo

BigFatCat2024 · 31/12/2023 22:20

Because they are utter fuckwits

Socksandfrocks · 31/12/2023 22:21

We must all live on the same Street. 😂

Ours started at 4pm though.

megletthesecond · 31/12/2023 22:22

It's winding me up too. A random bang every so often. Just do it properly at midnight and get it over and done with.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 31/12/2023 22:22

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 31/12/2023 21:59

PeopleAreWeird · 31/12/2023 22:24

1 stray firework about every 20 minutes or so, in and around the whole area, they literally jump in a car and go onto a different estate, they are them posting on the local facebook page laughing at the people complaining
