Watched a lot of Love Island Australia and MAFS Australia this year and follow a lot of the people from it now. Seeing all their stories all year and today for NYE, the sunshine, the beaches, the groups of girls all just having the best time being young in such a beautiful country with the best sort of lifestyle and it makes me feel sad!

I'm in my late twenties married with two kids, boring job, normal family life style but I look and think god could I of done that? Could life of been like that?

One of my old friends is currently in Australia so I'm seeing their insta stories all day everyday and it's made the pining worse than ever, I've never even been there and I find myself just wishing I could do life again and be born there Blush

I have also decided from watching MAFSAU that Australian men are mostly tattooed belligerent tossers with no emotional availability but I may be generalising there

Bloody hell. Also hilarious given you’ve accused the Aussies of being bigots.

It's been presented dozens of times & if the option was 'queen or no queen' as is it probably would have won out yeaaaars ago (Australians have a very complex & quite frankly negative relationship with the UK = penal colony years only affecting the lower classes/sports/wars

But ... its not! It's a reverse vote for the Australian government (who keep making it an option to vote for but waited 40+ years to vote on gay marriage/women's rights/welfare rights 😒) & (not enough) people get sucked into it (55% or so against last time. Haha)

But I can only apologise for everybody making it 15 year old you's fault like you'd personally come to lobby the cause.

I wonder if they'd want to ditch the King?

Wish they'd give UK a chance to vote on this!

They've already tried it with the whole 'drop her to drop him' slogans during his mothers reign & it didnt work But The king used to be really popular over here & really only competes publicity wise with William

I think most media would rather see William despite the lower work ethic & lack of history/culture just cause of popularity & saleability but Charles is more likely to get pressured (like he'd care) to resign then thrown off the throne

That poster is presumably making an ironic crack at the expense of the OP, who has based her opinion on life in Australia on a particularly dimwitted reality tv show.

I’m not originally from the UK, and had I watched Love Island UK and not spent 25 years living there, I might similarly conclude that all UK woman are vacuous permatanned shriekers with no body hair who trail around in bikinis asking one another if they prefer blond or dark-haired men.

Can we please put the referendum issue to bed please. 8 out of 45 refernda have passed in Australia. You need to have a majority of people in a majority of states. Most lose dismally. The only territory that voted yes in this latest referendum was the ACT ( Australian Capital Territory - basically Canberra - a govt city. ). The NOrthern Territory ( which has the largest proportion of indigenous people was a resounding NO. So many aboriginal people said they were voting no, including the 2 leaders of the NO campaign.
Besides this it was a terribly run campaign, nobody, I mean nobody, understood what "The Voice" was. Disgraceful.
Total waste of time and so much money. And I voted YES.

I like the sound of that campaign!

ANd FFS can we stop talking about "dangerous animals/insects/ etc. Strangely we all survive.. I met a lovely Scottish lad in Italy , years ago. He asked where I was from. I said Australia, and he was agog. I told him to come visit sometime. He said he couldn't because of all the scary animals and spiders.
It was so bizarre. I just assumed he was extremely stupid. Seems there's a few about.
Have you no noticed that we are creeping up to half the size of the Uk. Strange as we are all apparently dying from "random critters'. Lolololol. By the time my children are fully grown I think we will outnumber you. Awkies.

I'd hate to come across a cassowary in the bush though.

Those things scare the living daylights out of me. It's the shape of their heads I think!

honeysuckleweeks · 03/01/2024 09:48

Oh yes give a cassowary a wide steer. Same as you avoid moose in Canada. Coyotes and bobcats in California etc etc .

Bears in Canada would scare me too!

In UK, I only have to worry about cows (they terrify me and I live rurally) and they are our biggest killers apparently!

itllbedifferentnextyear · 03/01/2024 11:18

My sister just texted me that wombats shit cube-shaped droppings 😂Hope that isn't painful!

Reminds me of that joke, "The Oo-ah bird is so called as it lays square eggs".

More than 80% of Australia's plants, mammals, reptiles and frogs are unique to Australia - amazing!

itllbedifferentnextyear · 03/01/2024 11:23

She's sent me a picture. Yeah!

Scalottia · 03/01/2024 12:05

😂 People judging Australia by the men they saw on MAFS, that's hilarious, have you not watched the UK version? They are no better. Judging a country based on on vacuous reality television won't get you very far in this argument. They are all as bad as each other.
